I'm sure this isn't the popular consensus but I agree. I never look at the PGT and wouldn't miss it for a minute if it was gone. FSR is a different story but I'm assuming the PGT is really what's at issue here.
Looking at still photos of mostly softcore models on the internet is like jacking off in the lobby of a free brothel.

Couldn't care less about the porn, personally, I mean, there's a million places on the internet to see porn, never really got the draw of the porn to the forums but whatever.
Was willing to drop 10 bucks to read SA forums when they're closed to non members (after years of lurking), would be willing to do the same here if needed. Don't mind ads, or the screenshots thread going behind a posting wall, I figure if that's the worst that happens, that's a pretty good deal, really. I mean they could be putting up a paywall for membership and trying to turn this into a Something Awful clone, and they're not, and nothing in life is free, so yeah.
Sounds like something you feel you need to do to trim costs and keep the forums running, that also sounds perfectly reasonable, so no complaints here.

Would you like to be the one going through the Political Thread trying to figure out which posts qualified as posts of substance? I get a headache just trying to read half the posts in that thread.
I too am a lurker that has been brought out into the light. I have been lurking on FoH since late 07 and even played WoW and some other games with some of the members. I registered at one point but never really logged in since it wasnt required for most of the viewing. Never really been the posting type, sorry. My wife and I actually sit down and browse through the FSR and GIF threads... occasionally the PGT thread. Since the site was shut down and I heard about this one, I came over. To my delight, FSR and GIF threads came back! All of the sudden I was required to register. I knew this would be a problem because of the 'pre-screening' process. (I don't blame you... I wouldn't want Tyen or Swampdonkey coming back either)

I was a mostly lurker since Jan '03, I think I racked up a few dozen posts and even was +5. (Don't hold it against me.) I just dont' post for the sake of posting. Guess I'll have to be a bit more prolithic.
Back when there were 800+ people viewing fohss, how many were actual bots and how many were actual lurkers not logged in? Was it really that bad?

To be honest I always felt that nude women are not really necessary or even counterproductive for this forum. The funny screenshots was a nice asset but there are tons of sites with that kind of content already out there and if bandwith is limited/costy -> drop them.

I'd just like to say that I found FoH SS after finding a link to an image posted there. I checked out the forum and though "holy shit this is awesome". I spent a good 4 years lurking on FoH without an account just reading the shit and looking at the purteh pictures. I finally caved in and paid $25 for posting rights 2 months before the apocalypse, but then moved here. The point is, I would never have found the site had the same restrictions been in place in FoH, and I'm sure there are many who can say the same thing.
Ban the porn. I look at FSR to get a laugh or see something interesting, if I wanted to jack off, I would go to youporn instead of rerolled. Having to be logged in to see pics or even whole sections of the forum is a pain in the ass.

Yeah there's truth to that. That's advertising. You would also have to consider how much it's costing per head. That's just a guess in the absence of hard numbers but I'd have to imagine there are more cost effective ways to do it, if that's what you want to do.
