I can live with that. No cash shops spamming my screen if I die.
I have to agree with this. So far, it's a variant of WoW at a time when B2P and F2P are both extremely popular. We'll see how FF14 does with a similar model but this will probably end up being a 6 month guilty pleasure until TESO or EQN hit late in '14. WoW wasn't an 800 lb gorilla early and this is much less of an innovation or improvement on the current market than that was. Could be wrong though(but they would have to show a lot more)The game they have at the moment is not worth a monthly sub. It is essentially a more wow-ified GW2, with worse combat. Now it has the gw2 gemstore too, awesome. Can't wait to throw down $60 + a sub to get a similar experience to GW2. Sad to say this shit is going to crash and burn
I would probably agree if I saw anything that was new and innovative enough to be worth that monthly investment. Maybe EQN if they get everything they promise but how likely is that? This game is nowhere near the improvement in the genre for me to award them more than initial buying price. Also, Spronk hit it exactly about getting back into a game after some time off. The game wasn't good enough to keep me on the hook so why would I pay a fee to see if they MAYBE improved it?Im on the opposite side of the fence when it comes to f2p or b2p. Im actually starting to hate both of those models and how they nickle and dime everything and just cheapen the entire game experience, of course some are worse than others, but in the end its just a ploy of a shitty game to stay profitable. If a game is worth playing its worth paying for. All that F2P or B2P tells me is that the game is just not good enough to garner a normal sub. And usually this is true.
I'm just guessing but I think they'd be crazy not to implement a system that lets players that have subbed in the past come back and get a few free days trial every few months. It's the only way to compete with the F2P game's drop in drop out with no requirements ability.I would probably agree if I saw anything that was new and innovative enough to be worth that monthly investment. Didnt that link on the last page specifically say they do not have a "gem store" except for "plex"? I'm not bothered by a plex system personally but judging from other threads here that's P2W to a good portion of people, too.The game they have at the moment is not worth a monthly sub. True, but it really depends on how long you've been gone and how flexible that free weekend is. Blizzard are experts at giving just enough new stuff to get an extra 90 day sub. It's really not worth it but it seems like it the first few times. I also don't like the feeling that I have to spend a certain amount of time to get value out of those type games. Treadmills don't work as well if you only use them 5 minutes a month.I'm just guessing but I think they'd be crazy not to implement a system that lets players that have subbed in the past come back and get a few free days trial every few months. It's the only way to compete with the F2P games no entry level which in turn helps sucks players back into playing.
