Correct. The pay-per-period style gameplay only really gets its money's worth from events and shit that occur during that period. When a month passes and nothing outside of what you have already paid for (the core game+expansions) occurs, then that is effectively 0 return on the pay for that period. The server argument is valid to a degree, but not the same degree that charging x dollars per month per person really justifies in today's market.

Granted, I will happily pay 15 a month if that is the going rate for quality entertainment. They just need to impress upon me that my 15 could not be better spent elsewhere in order to secure it these days. During the dark ages of mmorpgs, the options were so limited that charging for entry into the only circus in town was viable. Now that there are circuses every 10 feet, charging to get into one is not a very good concept.

I haven't really ever seen a sub give $15/month in value. Sure, at one time I thought it did, and with the sub model being the only game in town, what were you to do? Now,after games like GW 2 showed that B2P works just as well content wise, and F2P games have a ton of content as well, why waste your money?
Can you tell me what content did they add since release ? I'm talking about genuine new content, not features announced for launch and delayed because they have to prioritize things, like developping their "living story" which constits of one shitty scenarized 15mn length solo instance every month. Oh, indeed they added Quaggan backpacks and tons of things you buy in the cash shop, but besides that, where is the added value ? sPvP isn't even functional as a "eSport feature" (they said that, no me), WvW is slowly dying because people are bored (ladder rating makes no sense, no new content, bad implementation of WXP which forces people to blob, etc) and PvE is a well known joke (berserker gear all the way).

I've quit the game early therefore maybe I missed some added content. But it's clear they lack manpower / ressources to develop solid content over time. So I wouldn't jump too quickly on the B2P happytrain because it still has its obvious flaws. Back on the topic, I'd say they'll probably run subs, but I don't see them reaching for the 15 bucks mark. Maybe 5 or 7 dollars / month + a cash shop (housing, etc).

I think any sub is going to be very hard to justify in today's market. People realized it doesn't lead to faster/more content, it doesn't help customer service times, hell the only thing you might make a case for is bandwidth/servers and that's not close to $15 bucks a month. Subs shouldn't be required for future payed expansions.

I hate most f2p games. Because its f2p, everything and its mother is nickle and dimed. Character slots, bank slots, dungeon runs per day and many other things that would of probably been default if there had been a box price. The worst F2p are ones that restrict access to game, either via levels, economy or content, why even be f2p.

For me I think its b2p way in todays market. This leads to at least getting full features/content of the game right away and most of the time the cash shops are not too bad(ie you don't end up having to buy stuff to keep going or incur major annoyances/grinds/blocks).

Whenever I log in (maybe once or twice a month for an hour or so of spvp) they seem to be adding new quests or instances or events or whatever, but they've barely touched PvP other than adding their godawful iteration of the pvp ranking system, so they seem to be trying to keep the game fresh, but not realizing that the issue is that their PvP needs a shitload of work. A good PvP system is basically an endless font of entertainment for players, but they don't seem to have realized that you have to actually finish and perfect that system first.

If ANet had dropped the ball any harder, the crater would be visible from space.

The small additions you notice in GW2 if you only log in twice a month are from the living story. Its a very interesting concept (think asherons call). Its far too little per month though, not sure if they lack manpower, money or time to flesh it out enough. Actual permanent content additions have been few so far. Some DE and JP with the halloween patch, fractals and the fairly barren southsun island in november. Everything since then was temp living Story content.

Yeah the living stories are really good in GW2, it's nice to have a new zone/quests/items to do every month or so. I just wish their dungeon aggro system was better and their WVW didn't suck donkey dick. That being said I still play casually and love it.

The WvW was a deal breaker for me, I had fun for the first month or two, but it left out all the things that keep me going back to DAoC's RvR, it's so sterile, you become part of this amorphous zerg, with nothing to stimulate or challenge you.

To get this back to wildstar i guess the lesson to learn from GW2 is that wanting to have several live teams and actually having them and adding enough content to keep your pve players engaged are two different things. Wildstar does talk good PR rgarding that but so did GW2.

I think the problem is that they thought that spvp was going to be some big esport or something. They seemed to focus a ton of energy into that when it should have been put into WvW.

They have added a ton of Pve content so B2p does work as far as that is concerned. The cash shop has also been a success.http://www.gamerevolution.com/news/n...ash-shop-19237

When the game was released there was nothing to support eSports sPvP except 4 maps and 1 mode (CTF). There was nothing else, and the game browser (game 001, game 002, etc) looked like a 1999 online FPS browser. You couldn't group with your friends to play together, you couldn't run anything competitive, it was a big 8v8 FFA fest all the way. I don't know where they put their ton of energy, but it certainly wasn't in sPvP.

I think you could group with your friends...but only if you were queuing for the rated stuff. The other stuff was just random and it was super hard to actually play with friends... (you'd constantly be switching teams even if you joined the same game).

Rated stuff wasn't functional at launch.

This is interesting, you can download the client from ncsoft even if you're not in the beta by doing a bit of googling. It has Houston, their add-on program, and you can open up all the official windows, and if you read the LUA files you can find interesting stuff in them or by viewing the windows themselves. Missing class, their ressources, that one is a pet class. And few unannounced features.

Sorry for the long wait, Pittsburg vs Ottawa double OT kept me busy:
smile.png

Engineer: It's a pet class, has a resource that seemed to be called "Volatility". It seem to have more then 1 pet since the LUA file mentions pets or all pets.

Medic: It uses mana, and something called Charges, on the UI there seems to be 5 charges.

Circles: The windows shows name, rank, level, class path, last online. Option to view alts. Can promote and demote members. Looks like you can be in 5 Circles.

Guilds: The windows is similar to circle showing the same info but with a Calendar and Acheivement buttons.

Guild Designer: Option for Emblem and Standard.

Warparties: Not sure what this is, looks like another sort of guild/circle...has to be registered and can have emblems, but UI is very basic. Name and class only.

Collections: Datacubes, Tales, Journals.

Dyes: Option for 3 colors it seems.

Group Finder: Arena, BG, Dungeons, Adventures and Warplots. Option to chose role, DPS, Tank or Healer.

That's it for now, time to go to sleep. There are probably mistakes in there...attributes are still name strength, dexterity etc... and not the new names. So kinda hard to figure out stuff without actually having the game.
