That might be true for you but generally hating on F2P seems to be become a rare ideal. I'm fine with a sub if the game delivers, but between LoL, GW2 and PS2 I can keep myself busy enough without forking over $15 a month. You'll have a cash shop in it even with a sub probably, cant think of a game without a cash shop these days.

I'd rather it be 15 bucks a month because I like the feeling of stability it brings. 15 bucks ensures me I get everything without having to think about what I may or may not need. Also I feel like if the MMO is good it deserve 15 dollars a month of support. The reason why F2P has been so successful is because MMOs since WoW excluding GW 2 have been shit forcing them to give people more incentive to play.

The game itself should be the appeal of it.. NOT the convenience of the game. That is what it all boils down to now days. People say 'Meh its free so I'm not 'losing' anything'. You should be looking to GAIN something by playing a game.

This argument again.... It isn't the amount of money that is the problem. It's the fact that once you stop paying you lose access to a game that you payed full price for. There is nothing wrong with being a smart consumer. I personally hate F2p and haven't lasted more then a week in a game with that model. I personally prefer B2P with cash shops like GW2 has. Gw2 has probably the best economy of any game that I know of because of this.

I think they should start exploring some b2p/monthly fee hybrid system where you aren't completely locked out of the game if you aren't paying monthly.

F2P is pure fucking cancer, it has been demonstrated many times over. It's not the savior of the industry like we thought with LOTRO. B2P is okay but I haven't seen it actually done well since GW1

That could easily be solved by something like if you bought the game you get xx hours / month without paying. So if want to check out the new patch or some shit, you get 10-20 hours of gametime to check it out.

I think I get it. I guess I was looking for something more as I don't find it funny at all. Curse my sense of humour it's all my fault.

I really don't care either way. I would prefer B2p at the minimum as it seems to help keep certain "communities" at bay.

If a sub actually brought more content and the attached cash shop(which is almost a certainty) didn't take away so many things that could of just been added into the game(mounts, social clothing, titles, skins etc), I don't think so many people would have a problem with it, but given the precedent out there, it would be very hard to change peoples opinions.

I do hate the current f2p business with lockboxes style gambling(especially when it ties into some in-game drop).

If they put most of the housing decorations/modules in the cash shop I'd say they'd make bank. They already have over 2000 of them. Add to that any weapon or armor skins, cosmetic items and buffs, extra character slots beyond say 4 that you get with the game and it's a good start I'd say.

I haven't really ever seen a sub give $15/month in value. Sure, at one time I thought it did, and with the sub model being the only game in town, what were you to do? Now, after games like GW 2 showed that B2P works just as well content wise, and F2P games have a ton of content as well, why waste your money? In a perfect world, a niche game that perfectly supplied what I'm looking for would need my $15 monthly to keep all the great content going every month but that's not realistic. Every game today has some form of collection garbage as the ongoing form of content to supply the happy masses until another expansion is made. I don't feel like paying $15 monthly to do my 'chores'. To get my copy of the 15 slot bag or the new shiny purple, etc. that everyone else is getting.

EQ 2 had those adventure packs and I thought it was a solid idea at the time. If every 3-4 months, I could get 3-4 new zones of well made content for $10, I'd sign up every time...with an original B2P model.

Certain F2P models are goddamned awful, like SWToR, wherecoregameplay features are left out. Other F2P models, like Neverwinter and ST:O are pretty good, but a lot of things are way overpriced and you have to pay for access to silly things like lockboxes. B2P games like GW2 are the best "happy medium" I've seen so far.

So much this. If every 3 months or so they wanted to charge me 15-20$ for a small-sized "expansion", I'd be all for it. As long as they were consistent about it. But to have to pay 15$ a month for what basically amounts to an "access fee"? Fuck off.

Fucking +1

Not to mention when I pay 15/month for a game I feel obligated to play only that game to get my money's worth. No more of that shit, the greedy fucks got away with it for a long time I don't see it doing as well in the future.
