Great point here.
BvS the direction was so obvious. It wanted that dark knight 2.0 edgey edge so bad it came across as thirsty for praise on how "different" the portrayal was, like nuevo Burton. I would have preferred they scrap the whole bad attitude and welfare Dark Knight BLURRED LINES MAN! bullshit. I get its a comic movie and you need to have comic characters though. It delivered on that.

Finally saw it and it was pretty good. Agree with some of the others that the 3rd act gets pretty ridiculous there but everything up until then was solid. I was pretty happy to see Zach Snyder slo-mo film style in a non-shitty movie for the first time in a while, even though he didn't actually direct this one.

When Chris Pine sacrifices himself at the end, could he just ditch the airplane in the North Sea or plant some some timed incendiary device and jump out? He's flying from Belgium to London and the gas bombs are on a timer so there's definitely a window to have the gas lay waste to 50 square miles of ocean life.

Steve Rodgers and Steve Trevor had a similar situation in the movies....interesting.
On a plane with an obvious method of escape and resolution which wouldn't lead to presumed death.

I had a different issue with that actually....
If igniting it is essentially the same as it going off as intended, he just air burst very astringent and deadly gas which, even more broadly dispersed, seems like a godawful idea. If igniting it ISN'T the same as distributing it, then just fucking land the plane and shoot it down there, the explosion itself wasn't even as bad as the two deities fist-humping the base right there.
I'm OK with not wanting to poison 50+ miles of ocean, ocean has it pretty rough from humans anyway, plus then chemicals are in the water and maybe even worse situation, who knows.

Gonna spoiler this but these are my thoughts based on this movie going forward to Justice League: (preview for it was before WW)
From the preview for JL it looks like para-demons to me, which means Darkseid. No Supes here means the rest get to deal with him or at least some of the Furies.
Technically looking at this, WW is the last God of at least the Greek Pantheon that we know about. Now Darkseid means Jack Kirby's New Gods and with Supes out of the picture she's the only one that can stand up to Darkseid on toe to toe footing but that may be stretching it. Being endowed with Amazon strength vs a full blown goddess as this movie seems to explain (only a god can kill another god with her killing Aries) who knows what that means in this universe as far as power level...I'm sure that can be retconned if need be by...it was a one time thing etc.
So JL if it's DS may have to intro DS , maybe Furies, maybe the New Gods, Source Wall and all kinda other stuff.
Theory....
DS attacks earth maybe seeing earth as no defender anymore because Supes gone...or wants to get Supes out of grave / make clone ala doomsdaay. Who knows. I have a feeling that it'll end with Supes being taken to Apocalypse / resurrected or something and go from there.
Finally..if you gonna CGI Darkseid anyway.....keep Michael Ironside as voice actor for him please hah. And just because I love this scene:

I think the main problem is you keep saying "Supes is out of the picture" except that BvS didn't even stick to that thread for 5 fucking minutes. There's been no footage of him in the JL trailers but it seems extraordinarily unlikely that the ending of that scene in BvS was anything but "brb afk"

Saw it tonight. It was fine. I like Gal Godot as Wonder Woman, but I felt like the movie was mostly meh. Didn't love it, didn't hate it. Probably won't feel like watching it again

206M domestic/230M foreign. Not bad on a 150m budget. It has a long ways to go to touch any of the Batmans/superman or BVS or even Suicide Squad but it is making dough.
It's knocked out Batman Begins and Superman Returns, but haven't adjusted those 12 year old movies for inflation.
Wonder which one of these is a follow up.

Just got home from seeing it. Movie theater was 80% full for an 11pm showing on a Monday night, this thing's got some legs. Enjoyed it quite a bit, 3rd act specifically the final god fight got very DC over the top, but I enjoyed the heck out of it and think Gadot is doing a great job owning this role.
