I always hated early 40s for that reason. Dungeons were fine but getting to Desolace is always annoying and I have an irrational hatred for Dustwallow Marsh.

Dustwallow is definitely a crap zone to get xp. It's too big for the amount of quests and traveling through the area is frustrating.

I've ended up doing a little grinding in STV (Trolls) and some quests in Feralas, but the pace is noticeably slower than before. 44+ is Tanaris and a ton of quests packed it, so it will speed up again.

For ally there is a few chains in dustwallow that are ok and I know horde has some chains there too. I think it gets better in TBC and WOTLK when they add in more quest content there. But WoW is not that hard of a game to grind a few levels in. Its actually kinda cozy to settle down in one area and just mindlessly slay out for some hours. I actually enjoy this from time to time. What really annoys me is all the running around and shit. This is why I like the rested xp mod because its really really efficient. I even think they have one for classic hc now too.

There isnt a lot in dustwallow prior to the WOTLK hub getting added, but its still worth doing yeah. Rested's hardcore mode is just a setting you select in the normal addon when you right click it

early 40s i almost always have skinning on a fresh server, so i'll farm turtles in tanaris for easy $$ to get a mount lol

I'm going to do Engineering as I never did engineering in Classic.
Depends if you go Hard Core or not. If not its fine, but if going hard core there are other professions that make more sense, like potion crafting and others that actually help with survival. Especially with how the ruleset for that HC mod is set up basically making you solo self fund. On the new HC Blizzard servers im sure those rules wont exist as a "server rule" but who knows what self imposed rules the meta will set up on those servers. IMO the no trading stuff needs to go. I like economy and fucking with the economy and actually making some cash. IMO economy and trading is a big part of the game.

Yeah I'll be curious what rules the HC servers have. I also think it's dumb that you can't trade or group (most of the time). Let people self-impose those rules if they want to do them.

Many are saying that these Blizz HC servers are dead on arrival because the lag deaths and disconnect deaths will not be able to be appealed. You know they wont be, dead is dead and this will turn off many a people from doing HC on blizz servers. And I think they are right. Some of the bullshit lag deaths I have seen, shit I even posted one above, are pure bullshit (the dudes death was overturned the next day). And its not like getting a class to lv 30-50 is a cakewalk and trivial in classic. Takes many many hours of playtime and concentration not to die.

It does not make a difference to me either way since HC is not my cup of tea. I value my time too much to partake in that exercise. But I know the HC thing is very popular right now. All the cool kids are doing it and the "unofficial" HC servers are packed.

Unofficial HC actually has working appeals lol and the entire app for it works just fine without Blizzard fucking with it.

Making a server devouted to just HC is dumb and a waste of resources. Its a fun time killer and challenge to do. But most players dont have an interest in it. Leave it as a bonus option and just give us a new SoM server.

Clearly you didn't roll on the SoM server all the original HC cunts were on because they single handedly ruined that server if you weren't aware of that shit on launch. Isolate them for the sake of everybody else when the new SOM rolls around

edit: Mind you they probably will still ruin SOM servers again, unless they make HC SOM servers as well lol

It's just the same thing they're doing now, just normal players had to compete with 30+ clowns contesting 1; 10 minute spawning mob because they couldnt group up lol

This is why games need a "vision" and stick to it kinda like EQ did back int he day. Problem with WoW was even from the beginning they were caving to all the people (mostly casual plebs) complaining. And this is what you get in the end, which is today an entirely 100% different game and a mediocre product. Shit, even during vanilla they started to "normalize" the shit out of everything different.

To the point of shitty people shitting up the game, back then they released WOW armory which basically exposed all the problems with showing people that information so easily and instantly. Now almost every group you joined you were filtered with your WOW armory to see if you were worthy enough. And this shit still continues today but on a larger scale.

I don't mean to sound cliché here, but we had the alpha chads as the original developers and now the beta socialist's are the developers. The betas are the type that think if everyone has a Ferrari then everyone is having fun. They don't understand the journey and the rareness are what make things fun.

I really don't have the motivation to type out the basics of psychology that most everyone here is aware of, but when raids/items were semi exclusive it was better. It gives you something to strive for. Catering to the lowest common denominator will never be a great game. Sure maybe only 30% of people could see BRD through, or whatever. Maybe only 10% saw raids. At the end of the day though the game got its record sub numbers under that model. Once they started going crazy with dumbing everything down (mostly after WOTLK) the game went to shit.

Well put, and its why I kept playing EQ for years being a casual and not even seeing one fucking raid in all that time. I always thought I would, someday.

It’s funny because even in these forums years ago I remember lamenting arena items saying they needed to add rating requirements (which they eventually did do) and was lambasted by nearly everyone. Our hearts are deceitful. Many times the very things we wish for are the things that destroy the game.

I cringe at every person that says they need to add X shortcut or Y nerf to speed things up because it’s a “waste of time”. The entire game is a waste of time lol.

I too wasted years on EQ and never saw any raids outside of PoF/Hate until the first TLP server. Never bothered me one bit. Never sat around bitching how the entire game should cater to me….
