Although the Korean produced stuff has been relatively popular in the west as well, so they probably view it as a solid investment since it means they can leverage against higher sub prices in the west

Korean entertainment is suuuuuuper campy. Not that it isn't entertaining, but I think the breakout hits are only breakout hits because they are different and unique compared to western entertainment. Most of it is gonna fall flat with western audiences, especially romantic dramas.

The western audiences usually like the action films/shows because of the ultra violent nature of them. But they are mostly shlock.

Western audiences love camp. Look at the Fast and Furious franchise's success. People just want to be entertained. That's the entire job of the....entertainment industry. Western actors, directors, and writers would rather make millions to virtue signal and promote themselves. I hope the entire industry crashes.
