i had an elite 1s that kinda crapped out after 2 years, the side grips started peeling off and i traded it into gamestop after supergluing that shit back on and hoping for the best. I've had an elite 2 since release in nov 2019 and use it more or less daily on my xbox (only controller) and no issues, and i've dropped that fucker a ton of times (all the little parts fall off lol) and its still chugging along.
i have heard horror stories and it just seems to be a luck thing, i'm sure after 3 years mine might be a little drifty or something but i don't notice anything. i do wish they would release an elite 3, i'd upgrade instantly. what they have out now is the "elite 2 core" which seems to be a cheaper variant of the elite 2.

Have had an elite 2 for about 1.5 years. RB button broke the other day and doesn’t appear to be repairable. These aren’t meant to be disassembled nearly as easy as the original controllers. While it is a very nice controller and much quieter than the original, not sure it’s worth 175+

Have the same issue w/ my elite 1, I bought a sleeve for the controller, but to the point now where I need to buy another sleeve or finally replace it.

Just wish they'd fix sound and streaming issues.
Sound isn't only always off, but varies how far it's off between apps, including the DVD/Blu-ray app, so using my TV's audio adjustment doesn't help.
And 2 years into series x and the live video streaming is still janky and jittery as shit on ESPN, tbs, tnt for sports. I wish Xbox would help or pressure these shit tier apps to pull their heads out of their asses. Or at least let me stream through web browsers, which Xbox tries to prevent.

Yeah it's a hard pass. The Series X has FPS boost which allows for all those Backward compatible games to run at 60/120 frames in 4k. This one does not.
nevermind it has a disc drive, and it's much more powerful.
