I had PRK eye surgery 12 years ago. Last week, overnight, my distance vision got blurry, and it's been that way ever since. I think I need to make my first eye appointment in ages.

Be ready to instantly need reading glasses if they touch you up.

I had lasik in 03, (FUCKING 03er!!!), and both got blurry, but the right eye was fine. Had the left touched up with PRK and I can see far away super sharp, but it's useless for reading closer than 1 foot away. Right eye is a touch blurry distance wise but I can read like a teenager.

For weight, I'm only in shape because I'm running away from insomnia (too cheap for Zzzzz pills), 6'2", 159 at my lowest, but up to 164 or so now.

I still don't need reading glasses but I can tell my distance vision isn't as good as it used to be. I think I'm one of the only ones in my office that doesn't go around with readers around their neck the entire day though. I think I'll finally start to feel old when I have to keep glasses with me, I have never had to wear glasses, ever. I might be fighting it harder because of that.

Yeah, thing is I have always been able to read fine, my near vision is perfect, but when I'm driving I'm like... I should be able to read that road sign from here...

I'm a fat fuck though, 6'3" 315lbs.

Holy fuck how skinny are you? I’m 6’1” and 184lbs. I could stand to loose like 5-7lbs tops.

My doctor had me on Zepbound. I used it for 2 months, got down to 270, but if I broke a sweat from exertion I felt like I was going to vomit. If I ate more than like.. a large banana, felt like I was going to vomit.

I lost a ton of weight, but also a ton of muscle mass as well, because I didn't want to do anything at all.

You're just going to lose muscle mass as you drop weight unless you use steroids, the balance of what your body burns as you cut is controlled by your hormone balance. If you are a "natural" (i.e. no steroids, no testosterone) your muscle mass is going to decrease right along with your fat and thats normal. Look at ... 99.999% of men prior to the 1950's, they were all basically skinny.

Big, lean, natural, pick 2. This is and has always been true.

I’d agree with this, mostly. But with time and a lot of effort, you can naturally get stronger and be lean. Just takes years where as gear gets you there in months and introduces tons of health problems.

Our firestick shit the bed. Wife got a new one and now everything looks fake on the TV. I guess it's a super high definition or something, it's just not right and is annoying me.

Check for a setting on the TV named something like "motion smoothing" or "Interpolation". You probably turned it off for your old fire stick and the TV reverted to defaults for the new one. I don't know if the fire stick itself would have a setting for it.

The description of soap opera effect sounds like what I see. Too real. I get the feeling I'm watching home movies shot with the latest high tech camcorder.

But it's gotta be a fire stick option because the TV is the same old (10-15 years) tv and we don't get it when we use the antenna. I'll look for that setting when I get back home.

New device plugged in, so the TV may have gone back to factory default settings for that particular input.

... when your kids go to two roller skating/ blading birthday parties in the last month and they tell you they want me to do it with them this weekend at the park down the street. So you buy roller blades and even though you're 45 and haven't been on skates since 1991 and you assume it'll come back to you and you start feeling yourself only to fall after 10 minutes, hear every bone in your back crack and break your wrist and elbow...

Ouch. Don't worry, now that you're old, it'll take longer to heal up too!

I think my FPS obsession with PC games has trained me to actually be a heathen and like the high frame rate of the Soap Opera Effect. I'll shut it off for older movies where they rely on the 24 FPS for special effects. But I love action shows with it on. I'm likely on the wrong side of history here but /shrug

So I just turned 57, and have noticed a sharp decline in my vision. I'm not sure if it's coincidence but I have also been recently prescribed metformin. Anyone else in the same boat?

Never heard of metformin having that affect. But the muscles that help your eyes focus do get worse as you get older, which is one reason lots of us end up needing readers.

Thanks, I also have been told diabetes can affect the smaller blood vessels particularly in the eyes which has got me concerned/paranoid. Hoping its just age.

I was under the impression it affected your extremities, like feet and hands, prior to the blindness
