I want YouTube to die.

I am with you here, if every single person who made a living as a “content creator” “Instagram model” “streamer” “reactor” “thot” we’re all to go bankrupt tomorrow I wouldn’t give the slightest of fucks in fact it would probably be a net benefit on the world.

Just because YT is full of thots and influencers, doesn't mean there aren't a lot of good content creators. I'm not sure you've fully thought about what "content creators" means. Cartoons, parody, politics channels, news, self-help channels, hobby channels, music, etc etc etc etc etc is all "content" created by users. Let's not throw the baby out with the bath water here.

That said, I hate "influencers" and they should all die in a fiery explosion. Entitled little twats.

No, burn it all down. Let five YouTube competitors spring up from YouTube's bloated corpse.

You'll still find your content if it was worth creating.

Completely different argument and one I can't find fault in. In that respect, YT and Google need to be made examples of.

Sorry, I guess I assumed this was all understood already. COPPA is 19 years old. I'm not saying that as a snark. As they are finding their feet and winning cases, COPPA enforcement has been spreading wider and wider. COPPA applies to every site on the intertubes. Every single one. Now, it may not effect them, but it still applies to them. Things get murkier for non-US sites, but not even getting into that.

Oh I understand what it is, basically each new win "Clarifies" a certain portion of the law, such that I call it a "New Ruling". It isn't really "New" but more of a "clarification" in the LOOSEST sense of the word.

They can "Clarify" a certain aspect such that the OG law changes significantly.

---

The reason I'm saying that Twitch and other streaming sites are going to get railed if this clarification goes into full swing is because their business exists PRIMARILY in the space of children entertainment.

If the FCC (or was it FTC...don't think it was but...) stands on the statement of, "Having a minimum age requirement doesn't exempt you." then all of these sites are in for a very rough ride.

The reality is that Youtube (and By-Proxy GOOGLE...) will not be viable if they cannot collect user-data anymore if the "Are you over 13" question becomes a super liability.

Fuerthermore it takes online trolling to a SWATing level of insanity since youtube will wash their hands of any liability of their creators. I mean shit, if I really don't like a streamer / creator I can basically flag their content to the powers that be and watch as they are forced to defend themselves VS the US government.

---

MEANWHILE...on the Facebook front, they are trying to connect users with BANK records, so they can show a 1:1 impact on marketing to a purchase. The MAJOR reason why Facebook has a crypto currency in the first place is ENTIRELY so they can collect and sell transaction information for the purpose of my first sentence.

The shit tier part is I am fairly certain that if YouTube was about to get ultimate-tier shat on via the government, they would take a poison pill before it happened and kill any chance for a business to exist in the space they vacate.

They are petty, they are entitled, they are stupid.

You ll hate these sites...I hate marketing. Marketing is fucking retarded, it is the dumbest line-item on financials because it doesn't have a statistical way of tracking it without staring at peoples bank-accounts and watching their every movement to see what they do. Marketing and market research is a clever way of tracking people without their consent.

I have nothing against any content creator, in theory. Even TYT, who are complete commie shills, at least they go out every day and produce content. Shitty content I grant you, but at least it's content.

If they have the viewers then they should be allowed to make the money.

I'm with Namon here. At some point it lands on the parents themselves. It is not YouTube's job to raise my kid any more than it is the Public School's job or Nickelodeon's job. YouTube should grow a fucking spine and defend their entire platform from this totalitarian shit. They can bifurcate their site into two domains, "kid friendly" and "not kid friendly" if they want but it still lands on me, not Gubmints, to police the behaviors of my kids.

If I am such a shitty parent that I somehow allow my child to access Pornhub, is that somehow Pornhub's fault? What about the people who made the porn video? The producers of the porn. Are they responsible for the fact that my child viewed their video?

You might hate porn as a thing, you might despise porn actors as a thing (content creators), but it is not their fault your child was allowed to view their shit (or their shitters).

If my son finds my pistol and accidentally shoots his sister with it, is that Beretta's fault? You might hate guns as a thing, but.... I hope I'm making my point....

YouTube is a hive of scum and villainy and I despise all of their own internal efforts to suppress political opinions they do not agree with, but that is not the issue at hand.

One solution is to simply stop collecting viewer data and go back to the old Cable TV model of assuming the demographics of your viewership rather than actively harvesting it. The other option is to go to court and send this law all the way to the Supremes.

But bowing to it is total faggotry (not gayness).

Heh shitty parent here... my kid did find porn hub but we found out as we do check browsing histories and stuff and while he had a good run for a few months it got filtered and blocked afterwards. The crazy thing (to me) is my daughter had found it too via a different source and was on it as much as he was.

I'd love for YT to just die along with all of the other ones so others can take their place. The problem is, and this is where I'm pro Anti Trust here more than the sites themselves, they are ALSO the gate keepers of said apps being out. Google owns Android and can deem any competitor a breeding ground for Alt Right Hate (Gab). Same with Apple. That's the part that needs to change, and then the other gatekeepers like Financial institutions and such don't need to be cunts about who can make financial transactions.
