I don't give a fuck about 'losing points', because I think a lot of people here are fucking delusional about the MMO market. You can still go play EQ and VG, if you want. You think SoE of all people are going to make an entire MMO just as a fan service? Maybe you're more delusional than I...

I just don't find those to be very fun game mechanics, anymore. I'm kind of putting up with them out of nostalgia in Project 1999, but it's not terribly engaging to just turn auto attack on then alt-tab to read Reddit until I hear the mob die. I'd argue most MMO players probably agree. I...

I'm still not even sure what EverQuest HD people want. Static Camps? Forced grouping to max level? Terribly boring combat? Long down time? Why not just go play Project 1999? That's what I'm playing at the moment, and it scratches that itch just fine. I don't see why we need a game to copy that.

    EQ Never

Yes? Your Weapon Abilities are still tied to your base class, but all your Class Abilities can be Warrior/Wizard/Cleric/Bard - even if your base class is a Druid.

We understand just fine. It's you who can't seem to grasp that the market is too small for it to be worth their time. And just for pointing that out, you attack us and doubt we played EQ. It's comical, really.

Where's the Dark Souls MMO then?

I'm sure there's some EQ players that want that. But hundreds up hunderds of thousands? Eh, I kinda of doubt it, personally. It's sad that you can't disassociate my comment from my own personal opinions.

I honestly think most EQ players would balk at the game if they tried it again (or something like it), especially after being babied in every other MMO since they quit it. I died in Crushbone and I'm bound in Steamfont? Fuck that. I quit. And they already have 100-200,000 playing EverQuest...

Do you think they care that 100,000 people want EQ3? They want the millions players looking for League of MineQuest.

I don't think there's going to be a pure anything, to be honest. I don't necessarily see anything wrong it that, either. Everyone should be contributing in more than one way. I'd be surprised if Clerics had any Offensive Class abilities though. Probably stacked with Defensive and Utility.

What fucking Ogres are you guys looking at that are 'dead sexy'? Surely not these, right? I'd agree that they're not as grotesque as the original EQ models, but it's not like they're Fabio.

They want you to playYour Way?. If their system works out, I really don't get what there is to complain about. I'd rather play with 4 skilled friends who all play what they want, then have to force 2 of them be the healer or tank if they don't want to - or even worse, have to PUG a terrible...

Here's another interesting one: I think they sort of touched on this during the panels, talking about the difference between a Dwarven Long Sword and a Qeynosian Long Sword - but I didn't really understand their point it at the time. This is pretty cool.

I don't see how strict Class/Race limits could work for what they're really going for. I mean, what if a class that's restricted for your race has A LOT of requirements? For example, say to get the Paladin class requires to get max tier Warrior and Cleric. Let's say that takes a lot of work, but...

They should make Class Abilities changeable on the fly, but base class requires seeing some sort of trainer in the cities. I think that could be a happy medium.
  23. Teekey

    EQ Never

I think you took that out of context. I think they were just looking for a wide sample of art and seeing if they could reproduce it in game - to see how robust the system really was. If you want to be completely honest, the new Ogres somewhat resemble the Luclin model Ogre.
  24. Teekey

Have you seen the Ogre concept art? They're not exactly cute - although they're certainly not fat and grotesque either.

What would make this interesting too is if heals were all direction as well. Then positioning becomes even more important. You have to stay behind the tank, and if the Rogue goes behind the mob, and you need to heal him? Well you're putting yourself at risk to alter your positioning in an...

While gear is going to matter, there really shouldn't be such a binary gear check in the system they're planning in EQ Next. Gear isn't about +Health or +DPS. Now, gear should help you live longer, or do more DPS - but not because of some static value. It's all about how it combos with your...

This is a good point. They said that they designed NPCs to be like players, which meant they were the same classes that the players use. They let slip for example that Druid NPCs would try to kite players trying to kill them.

Were you the best Monk simple because you had the best gear? Imagine if you and 5 other Monks all had 'best in slot'. Who was the best Monk then? I would assume the one who understood the mechanics the best. The one who had the most game knowledge. The one that had the best mechanical skill...

And they also said torches will absolutely be required for deep dark dungeons. They just don't want completely new people logging in and being unable to play because they can't see jack shit because their monitors gamma setting doesn't go light enough.

Read my previous quote where they said they're committed to interdependence. Maybe required grouping is their idea of interdependence, but no one really asked the question...so we really don't know for sure yet.

Yeah, we really don't know. Tad's impression was that it would take a lot of time and effort to be the 'best' at any single class.
  37. Teekey

Depends what you consider progression. Is there going to be the +1000 more DPS sword dangling over you head for you to chase after? No. But there's going to be classes, abilities, gear, and attributes to chase after.

  39. Teekey

    EQ Never

Exactly. SoE didn't create the system. They hired on the guys fromStoryBricksto implement it into EverQuest Next. The mobs are supposed to be acting based on their wants, needs, likes, and dislikes. We'll have to see for sure if that just ends up being mobs spawning at X and moving to Y, but...
