    EQ Classic? Not really.

There's very little to talk about when it comes to EQClassic itself. I mean, how many years has it been, and... we're still talking about it, not playing it. Frustration is clearly understandable. Also, if you didn't think someone was going to raise this... come on. You must have known.

Holy shit. I wonder what their roaming rates are up in Canada. Isn't it sad that it could conceivably be cheaper just to pay that, given how expensive and horrible our plans are? EDIT: Oh, shit, never mind. T-Mobile roams with Rogers in Canada. $10 per MB. Hahaha. Fuck Rogers.

    Virtualization (VMware, VirtualBox, Hyper-V, ...)

I really, really wish that VMware Workstation would run alongside Hyper-V so that I could do the same, or that ESXi would run inside Hyper-V (which it won't, as far as I know). It's probably a bit too late to figure out a way to install ESXi bare metal on my server, given that it holds about...

    Tablets

I've done the same, to be honest. I think it's just a question of how forgiving I'm willing to be with the tablet's size/weight. I don't care about the screen, because I can make that easier on the eyes by changing it to "night" mode (white on black instead of the ridiculous black on white that...

Heh. What I meant, clearly, is "I'm not going to spend more money on a reader, because my iPad does the job well enough". Maybe I just don't read enough to care.

    Tablets

I read on my iPad all the time. Yeah, it took some getting used to, but it's really not as bad as you'd figure it would be.

Good call. Never used gawk before. This one will preserve spacing as well (from the ReferenceObject line):

    NZBMatrix is dead. What now?

Can't get it to index anything. So strange. I'll mess with it some more tomorrow, enough playing for today.

    Laptop Computers

Probably from us Alienware folks. 3 grand is easy enough to do for an M17x/M18x. The G75 is really well-priced, though. If I hadn't been able to fix my M17x R2 for $250, I'd have gone with the G75VW.

Holy shit, who's that from? I've got 6GB LTE with Rogers @$30/month, but that was the promotional price, only available when they hang a new iPhone in front of us like a carrot.

Quick question for coding and sed/awk geniuses..

Yeah, I'd probably have done that in perl myself, but it's amazing how quickly awk/sed can do things if the syntax is right.

    NZBMatrix is dead. What now?

Changed my mind and bought a subscription to astraweb, since it's fricking cheap and I'm not likely to actually download anything (just use it to get headers) anyway. I'm messing with the indexing now. It doesn't seem like it's gonna use a great deal of disk space, but I haven't had any luck...

    Laptop Computers

Had any overheating issues with yours? My R1 overheated and blew the gfx cards, and my R2 just did the same thing (had to extend the warranty and get Dell to replace them). I think they did away with Crossfire/SLI support in the R3/R4, right?

    NZBMatrix is dead. What now?

I'm messing with installing it now. We'll see how it goes. I take it I'm going to need a newsgroup server somewhere for this... I don't have one. Anyone wanna lend me theirs for a sec?

    NZBMatrix is dead. What now?

I'll look into it when I'm home from work. Depending on its RAM/HD needs, I could probably run one on my EC2 server. (of course, there's nothing to stop Amazon from sending me a C&D and taking my shit down, so...)

Is it just an index? What are the bandwidth requirements? I could throw one up for the hell of it.

    Rift: Planes of Telara

I've never played another MMO that was easier for everyone to be mediocre at and still win. It's easy enough to get along with button mashing for most classes and still come out on top. If you can't win, just leash the mob(s) and try again. Most classes have a Win Mode combo (though I can't...

    Virtualization (VMware, VirtualBox, Hyper-V, ...)

I work in government... everyone silos everything. Although I think you may be partially right. =) Our environment is fairly small. Only about 100 VMs. We're about to put another 1500 or so up, though, on new hardware... mostly virtual workstations.

    Virtualization (VMware, VirtualBox, Hyper-V, ...)

Probably going to migrate to Hyper-V 2012 at home shortly (like, sometime this week). Gotta get a full backup of everything done first so I don't lose my shit if (for some reason -- this is Microsoft, after all) it fails to run my Hyper-V R2 VMs. We run ESX / ESXi at work. I'm not very...

Want to help the migration to the land of milk and honey?

It would register as a new session, provided you hadn't been there before and had no session cookie open. Sessions have a timeout length if not kept active, so if you want a new session, you have to rid yourself of the cookie and then get a new one, or wait for the session to time out without...

    Virtualization (VMware, VirtualBox, Hyper-V, ...)

Yep, done this before -- it will do pretty much anything except virtualize fault tolerance, which is aggravating. I've heard that you can virtualize FT within ESXi (e.g. 2+ virtual instances of ESXi within ESXi with shared storage), though, provided it's running on bare metal. Haven't tried...

    Virtualization (VMware, VirtualBox, Hyper-V, ...)

The issue here is that running OS X in a VM (that isn't VMware Fusion or Parallels, on an actual Mac) isn't supported by Apple, so no one officially cares about it. I tried looking around and discussion is fairly readily available, but solutions, not so much. It's a kext issue, I'm sure. I...
