CC is definitely a valid role in a group, and you'll generally want a class that can break camps by pulling in some fashion. There is barely any AE dmg abilities so burning packs down isn't in the design at all.

Keeps taunt and defense up. Plus all the tanks have a combo when they can slam the mob in the back that does pretty high dmg + perks every 20? Seconds. Spellblade also gets dps if they get smacked with their bubble up. Definitely some meta gaming with some classes to taunt off the the tank...
