I had a friend who had a daughter that had night terrors, it was a terrible thing for everyone involved to endure. They did find that a warm, quite wet wash cloth applied to the forehead helped her come out of the terror by waking her, soothing her (with the warmth). It might not work for...

Heh. Yup, this is every parent's first reaction when kids sleep through the night the first time. One second of "Ahh, a good night's sleep." followed immediately by "holy shit (while jumping out of bed), is my child still alive?"

I think there is a dichotomy here. If you watch cooking shows, so many of the chefs are men. When you talk to a vast majority of couples, men don't cook. It's an odd thing. Even in my own circle of friends, most of whom are pretty progressive people, the women in the relationship do the bulk...

My son went to the dentist on Monday for the first time. In town they have a school of Dentistry, and it's helpful for the students to have people come in and be "serviced" by the student (under close supervision of a certified dentist, of course). The trouble is, they're all training to be...

Me, too. So much sodium, and for something that is so easy to do yourself. By the way, the tomato soup I made today, if I may say so myself, was just delicious. The difference between using fresh tomatoes and canned is huge, and having a nearly endless source of basil helps. I started with...

Truth. This is excellent advice. Get a new, oldschool slow cooker, man. Hit the Salvation Army and St. Vincent DePaul's stores.

    Bar Ownership?

You could do this. You can save quite a lot of money by not having a female bathroom, as it won't be needed.

    Whiskey

This is crap. Sorry, I don't mean disrespect. But no one, not even the very rich, are opening the finest Scotch every time they pour a drink. Try a bunch of cheaper stuff, find what you enjoy, have that on hand. Hence this thread - ask for suggestions. Good idea. I have very good, very...

    Whiskey

Try Canadian Club rye whiskey. It's a lot of bang for the buck. Even more bang for the buck is Canadian Mist. About 17$ for 1.75 litres. Neither are awesome whiskey, and both are rye based, but they're better than a kick in the head with a frozen boot.

A favourite weekend activity for the family is to spend time on a Saturday making pizza dough, and partially baking them. Then the kids get to "decorate" their own personal sized pizzas at dinner time, and we finish them in the oven or on the grill (depending on season). I go back and forth...
