Today (Dec 6, 2018), the gulf between the West and the East in terms of difficulty of schedule has never been more apparent.
In the West, there are 10 teams within 4.5 games of the 1st place Nuggets. And all but one team (Suns) are within 6.5 games. That means the 14th place team (Spurs) are only 6.5 games back of 1st place.
In the East, there are TWO teams within 4.5 games of the 1st place Raptors (Bucks and 76'ers) and only 3 teams beyond that (Pistons, Pacers, Celtics) within 6.5 games of 1st place.
Time to disband the East and just distribute the few good players throughout the Western teams.
Some truth to that, but in the East 9th place is 6 games behind 2nd place even, when 14th place in the West is also 6 games out of 2nd or 6.5 out of 1st. 13th place in the West would be in the playoffs in the East right now. West really only has the Suns shitting it up and the East has Hawks, Cavs, and Bulls all shitting it up.Seems like this would make more sense if it wasn't ignoring the fact that the top team in the West would be 3 games behind the top team in the East.
This whole argument is based on 1 outlier team
