They need to bake letting the players still get paid if they're injured and teams get salary cap relief into the next agreement maybe. (I'm sure it is for retiring players somewhat, no cap expert here) The reality is as most say, RB's are low shelf life players that can mostly be replaced, but that doesn't stop the fans of the teams that have the top guys for that limited time from recognizing the impact they have on that team.

Marshall Faulk's Ram career was short but fucking glorious and I'd give him every bit of that 120 million 4 year contract that Kevin Love just signed (and will probably see every penny of) for the joy he gave me.

I don't see how you can pay Gurley (and especially fucking Cooks), no matter how valuable he truly is, without taking care of Donald first.

As others have said, the team probably wants Donald taken care of yesterday. Every day a deal doesn't get done is a day Donald's contract could go way up.

Donald has the leverage to wait. He carries some risk for a mega injury, but his number is highly unlikely to come down.

Dude has a point though, best RB in the NFL being paid 12 million a year, especially in a position that has a short shelf life? Regardless of the more recent views on franchise RB's, they do get the ball more often than anyone not the QB.

Bell wants that WR money. It's similar to Jimmy Graham's stance on the issue.

He's making the bet someone on the open market will give it to him. We'll see next summer.

I loved Faulk too but it's just not feasible to pay almost 20% of your cap for an aging RB. The only reason the Rams are getting away with this shit is a rookie QB deal. Brady is the rare QB who slows his expenses down significantly to get more talent(and Bill doesn't pay top dollar anyways). Let's look at the top NFL contracts.

And yeah, I get you, but this is fans caring about the salary cap of a team they don't own. The money to take care of these guys is there. Maybe you let QB's be paid insanely but scale it down on the cap hit to let some of the other positions best eat. I think it's unfair to RB's but I totally get you from the point of how the cap works.

I wish it wasn't true and think QBs ruin the opportunity to maintain great teams. Unfortunately, guys like Jimmy G not only are taking away the older porn GF market but look worth that extra dough. The difference between pre and post Jimmy is amazing and even after teams get used to his tendencies, he will still be considered worth the cost of purchase. Hell, if Tampa still thinks Tard-muffin is worth it, then Jimmy looks like a golden goose. Given another chance, would Bucs draft Jameis Winston again?

Tard-muffin made me giggle.

The Steelers have offered this. The issue is Bell wants long term top tier top guaranteed money. He wants something like a QB contract full of guaranteed money. Fuck him seriously.

I thought their issue is they didn't want to go above $13M or 13.5 a year, and Bell wanted 15.

I know they offered him 12 and I believe he wanted guaranteed money at the time though I could be wrong.

I mean even Gurley isn't getting the FULL contract guaranteed. Be curious to know exact numbers and how far apart they were.

Jimmy G is that dude right now. 7 starts, undefeated, 130 million $ and is ploughing a dusty port star, living that Hollywood/Calabasas life style.

He is fully embracing his new life position. Funny, true story, when I used to work at my last job, one of the QA girls went to a Pat's game and I guess they went to an after party and Jimmy was there,, she then messages him on Instagram or some shit and he fucking RESPONDED.

He never met up with her or anything but she showed me the message. So he has been wild for some time now.

I don't know if he was expecting the full contract guaranteed but even asking for 40-50% of it would still be 40+ million guaranteed on a RB.

Report out that the Rams offered Aaron Donald 21 million a year over 4 years. He and his agent “felt insulted” and want more like 25 million a year. I have to imagine they won’t let him extort them when they can just franchise the hell out of his career for the next two years.

If he doesn’t fold and that’s his legacy is the Rams ruining his talent I’ll be so sad.

That's a heck of a gulf for what doesn't amount to a large amount of money.

Franchise Tag for a DT is $14 Million.

Doesn't add up. Rams are probably willing to give a lot of guaranteed money and a big bonus next year – Darnold is best off getting a deal done. Probably just stalling until Mack makes his deal.

Man, how much better a player is Aaron Donald at 27 over Kevin Love at 29? I realize there are far fewer basketball players, but it just sucks that true generational talents have to be dicked around like this because you can't spend too much of your cap on a d-lineman.

I've watched the Rams let Eric Dickerson go (trade), Jerome Bettis, Kevin Greene, London Fletcher...just ugh.

This guy is a sure fire hall of famer if he doesn't get injured, please figure this out. sigh

Rams still have an asston of cap space for the next 2 years and that's why Cooks deal has tons of his money front loaded into those 2 years. I'd suspect they'd wanna do that with AD as well so when it comes time to sign Goff they have the room they need to do it without gutting the team of stars.

How would anyone want to leave this team now? Amazing stadium opening in a couple years and a playoff caliber team that could challenge for a Superbowl in fucking LOS ANGELES.

I hate this shit lol.

Yep, that’s about where I’m at. AD is a once per generation freak talent and they’re doing nothing but pissing him off.

At least his away from the team offseason training seems borderline insane already so he won’t be out of shape.

21 a year is insane money for a Defensive lineman. If anything they need to help this guy under the table get better endorsement deals or something. That's where Gurley can make some of that difference up.

The Rams can basically keep him for the next 3 years for far less but imagine the nightmare that will be.

Yeah asking for 25M a year as a Dline player is pretty outrageous. He's obviously the best defensive player in the game but there's a limit to how much they will get paid. $25M a year is basically QB money. Good starter QB money.
