Caps offense has been great, defense /goal tending is still an issue imo. I just have no faith in Holtby at this point, even if he has been at least trending towards league average recently. The bruins are on a 3 game losing streak, but in a 7 game series I'm taking Rask over Holtby 24/7/365. I'd probably take Halak over Holtby as well. The Islanders look good too by virtue of a stellar defense; unstoppable force (Caps offense) vs immovable object (Isles defense) would make for an interesting series

Holtby owns the Bruins, though. Also I think you're a little overboard on the never trust him part anymore. Since getting pulled after allowing 3 goals on 3 shots against Colorado, he's 7-0-1 with 22 GA in those games, and a .920 sv% all situations, which is quite a bit better.
Also Caps players have kind of stated that Reirden's system is a bit more aggressive, and they're giving up some more chances against while they adjust. Hopefully they can fine tune it more where we can still generate a lot of offense without giving up as many quality chances against.

I love Ovi, and he's a for sure Hall of Famer, but Connor McDavid is seriously on another tier list when we rank the best hockey players in the league currently. Sure he doesn't have the success, or pedigree. But the magic that mother fucker makes is so satisfying to watch. If Bolts don't make it to playoffs I'm rooting for Oilers.

While I'm biased as hell, I don't think Ovechkin has been in the real running for overall best player in the league for awhile now. Best goal scorer, yes, but it's been McDavid v. Sid for best overall player the last few years.

McDavid > Crosby all day. Crosby was gifted to a team that didn't deserve him, whereas McDavid was drafted to an organization that has done everything to waste his potential. Despite all that, he has amazed since day one.

That's the thing, traditionally speaking McDavid isn't even in his prime yet. Time will tell though.
