I'm pretty excited if its 2042. I liked 2142, but the super future fantasy when it comes to guns.. just doesn't do it for me. I mostly like it for the HUD designs and such, but prefer the more crude president day warfare look. It's distant enough to be hypothetical, but not far off to still be set in reality. Sounds like an almost exo-skeleton/boston dynamics like military approach when thinking 2042.. or even just an AKM with some rails haha.

Is the weaponry I think of in my head.

watched a lot of their videos over the years but god damn do I want an AKV-521

too bad it'll never hit the States unless someone here decides to make one

At the rate of tech just currently, 20 something years id expect to see something more exciting than most of the fairly old stuff its shown.
Nahh military moves slow, especially rollout of new weapons systems. Shit most of Army is still using old ass 1960s shit. Maybe some modified here and there, some new shit added here and there for the specialists, but still the old platforms. Why? Because they are tried and proven. And it takes moving a mountain to prove out new weapon systems.

Just like most of the WW2 up to 1960s were old modified WWI era weapon systems for the most part.

Even if you use stuff under development, gives you some decent options

1) Stealth attack drones
2) Railguns
3) Boston Dynamics style attack robots
4) Exosuits
5) Active Camo Systems

The year is 2042. US and China are in a cold war/proxy war with the free city of Hong Kong and various South East Asian countries as US proxies and multiple South American countries as China proxies. US is possibly on the verge of a civil war but is being held together by the possibility of all out conflict with China. An Islamic uprising with the goal of creating a new caliphate is spreading across mainland Europe, but Israel and most of the Middle East are a radioactive wasteland after Israel executed the Samson Option. Russia controls most of the organized crime in the world, and the fledgling Mars colony has cut off communication with Earth...

j/k, EA doesn't have the balls to do any of this.

Well new weapons should be rolling out to army in 2022, like SIG MG338 and other weapons by General Dynamics and Textron that all use the new 6.8mm which will be the new platform. because its more effective out and past 600m So there is that. But this is still the field testing stage, it probably wont be another decade or two after 2022 that we will see a choice finally be made for the replacement of the M249 and M4.

Looks like we're just getting BF4 again.

Eh with how many shooters keep coming out - traditional shooters will have started to feel "samey" years ago.

I have a funny feeling that another Titanfall game is in the works with the recent re-interest in that game and they don't want Battlefield to cross over into that territory.

watching now, visuals look incredible but i think its all cut scenes so far

10/10 gfx

definitely a BF 2042 vibe from the setting

night-time Hong Kong level is basically "RTX, the ultimate demo"

Why aren't they using the classic Battlefield music instead of this stupid Motley Crew remix? Such a dumb decision.

Like how in the trailer they references this. Looks like they learned what made BF games so fun.
