Yeah im liking it. Im like 55 hrs into it between me and my kid, lol, which swore off this "shit game" and then played it like 20 hours on this past weekend asking me for a copy so we can play together. There is a fair number of bugs, like HUD disappearing on death, or when you click the assignments tab in game, those two happened to me like 2-3 times and are the worst, because it leads you to quit the game to resolve, but other than that its solid.
Hit detection is pretty good, probably the best I have seen in a BF game so far. The guns are all pretty good too with a few standouts. TTK is ok, but the TTD is kind of whatck I guess the server code cannot keep up with all the shit going on still. So the same shit persists as in all these games, like getting shot through walls, seeming like you got one shot. etc...
The progression is nice with tons of shit to do, right now 50 levels overall and 20 levels each class. The starting guns are already perked up but the others you have to level to get perks on them, then you do achievements to unlock skins, pinnacle of which is the gold skin. Classes all have their own achievements too to unlock more clothing skins, some of are pretty awesome. They also have an armory which you can buy skins with in game currency too. But no real money shit (yet). Which is all cool because you always have something to work towards. I just wish the achievement system worked in the background, kind of you play and you complete them automatically. I hate that you have to exit the game to pick 4 then go back into game to complete. But thats just a minor thing as im sure they will add a way to do this in game (as they already said they would)
Weakest class at the moment is the medic IMO because their guns suck, they can only use SMG and other than 10-20 meters they are useless, but int hat 10-20 meters they are pretty good. But they said they are adressing this. So youre not seeing too many medics as time goes on. But they get shit like smoke nades, etc.. Assault has AR and Carbine with shit to kill armor like C4 and rocket launchers. Heavily reliant on medics to heal them and support to give them ammo. Support has your LMG and HMG and of course ammo. They have some of the most OP guns in the game like the MG 34 and MG42, the MG42 which can fire at 1200/rpm, but they are balanced in that to use them in any proper way you have to be prone or at least tripoded. But they can also shred entire squads if properly positioned in defensive areas. The other LMG are all good and even become lazers with the tripod out. they also have anti vehicle mines. Then of course recon with your standard BF recon shit. Bolt action 1hit headshots, then they also have an assortment of self loading rifles too which do like 2 hit kills or 3 depending on distance. Throwing knives which 1hk depending on distance, spotting scope which is underused but SOOO fucking op since this game has hardly any spotting otherwise. It even helps the bombers since they know exactly where the armor, player concentration is. Spwan beacon...
The maps are all really well done, the desert one is fucking huge, probably the biggest they have ever done. There is 2 sides to it, one which has a ton of tank/vehicle play, and the other has ruins all over the place which is cool for infantry play. My favorite is the country side one. 4 points on the outskirts and one central point in town center. Whats missing IMO is pure infantry maps like lockers/metro which I fucking loved in BF4. I hope they add this in.
Vehicles are not too OP, like I said the assault has C4 and rockets to take care of them. Most of their main guns suck vs infantry, they literally have to headshot you with them to 1HK you with them, which just leaves their machine guns, which can only fire on direction. There are light tanks, heavy slow tanks, and even the highly mobile tank on wheels you see in some of the videos and shit. They are great for pushing points with but you have to be careful because only one good assault can lay waste to a tank quick.
Planes are kid of OP now, especially the bombers. They lay waste to concentrations of troops down on the ground if properly aimed. Fuck they can be annoying. (and getting nerfed I hear) But there is plenty of AA shit to take them down if some annoying bomber ace is fucking up your shit. Or you could always take a smaller fighter up to try and deal with them too.
Game modes and servers are still lacking IMO. They have "infantry play" which is shit like TDM and small scale conquest mix on smaller versions of the huge maps. Large conquest of course, and then they have grand operations which are 3 day battles which span across multiple maps which have the attackers parachute in and advance on points/destroy points, etc... Kind of a mix of all the above game modes. Whats missing is hardcore, rush (which is kind of grand operations now) and private servers which you set up your own rules, ala BF4. But those could be added later. Also they split up the grand operations into its own smaller modes like airborne, breakthrough etc... Which are just parts of grand operations split into ther own game modes that can be completed in shorter time.
Overall I would give this a 7.5/10 or of your a battlefield player a 8/10. But this score kind of depends on their support for this game. If we get constant updates/maps than this will be good, if we have to wait 3 months between new content/maps than this will not be so good.
