Ok, so MS takes over AV/B... does this make WoW better or worse? Separate question, does this make Blizzard better or worse? Also, doesn't MS kill off studios once they are integrated (here's looking at you Bungie)? So in 2 years it's going to be Microsoft presents World Of Warcraft?

This will make WOW worse. MS starts all their presentations with race/gender acknowledgements.

There is little MS could do to make WoW any worse for players.

Their current business model (suits) seems to be hands off (kinda). They bought InXile before Wasteland 3, and the game didn't seem to suffer for it. Around the same time they purchased Obsidian, while Outer Worlds was in development; I didn't much care for that game, but it also got high marks.

They also bought ZenMax (Bethesda) recently, so their next releases will give more insight into how they are are going to operate.

It is always possible that they clean Activision's house. There is at least hope that they will shake up the whole system, due to current performance being so far away from past performance, in Blizzard's case.

Never heard of Culvers either. Sounds pretty much select locations (yellow? Blue appears to be stav hall, which ive never heard of either). Just makes me curious what is in Virginia that you guys havent heard about cause everything that comes to mind is world wide.

People can hate on the man all they want but at the end of the day Bobby gets Paid. He is going to walk off with a sizable part of that $70 bil.

WoW being part of Game Pass would probably be fantastic for the game.

They will move WoW to gamepass and get rid of the separate sub fee

That would actually be fucking brilliant and would breathe new life into the game. Hell I'd maybe even log in every now and then if that was the case. Unsubbed early last year after how bad Shadowlands was and haven't even had the slightest itch to come back.

Bungie is doing just fine on their own

New player logs into WoW GamePass, sees the fifty systems they need to catch up on before anyone will take them outside of random queue. Logs back out.

wow. I honestly thought we might see Blizzard try to spin itself back on its own before this. That thought was well before the crazy shit of the past year and all the old guard jumping ship.

Activision was already in the same stage of corporate vulture feeding that Msoft would bring, this is just a consolidation move probably brought on by the need to get rid of Kotick

I think you have misidentified Activision's major issues. They are a company that is essentially living off one revenue stream and, like almost every other giant corporation, they have failed to make additional long term revenue streams. You can say that it is Kotick's fault that they failed to do this; however, AVB gives a ton of autonomy to the studios and it seems like THAT was the major culprit here since it is the individual studios that are circling the drain of mediocrity into total dogshit. Don't forget that Microsoft would be in the same boat if it weren't for their Office product and it alone. The business adoption of that suite is and MS realizing that they could monetize it as a revenue stream, and then realize they could use it as a springboard into forcing customers to use their cloud is the only reason that MS isn't in the dust with Google ruling the business productivity market.

We look at ABK from the perspective of Blizzard, but MSFT doesn't. They bought them for King's money printing racket and CoD:Warzone. The blizz stuff was just icing on the cake, especially since the pending litigation drove the price down.

This may be a chance for Microsoft to clean out the management. From all the information that trickled out of there because of the lawsuit and the following shitshow, it looked like Blizzard is a "tenure trumps all" type of ship.

Leadership there seemed to have ignored many ideas for the future of their franchises, and were hell-bent on stupid ones like mobile style retention traps and esports.

EDIT: Disregard that, it's doomed. When your "leadership team" image prominently presents pronouns for everyone, you know they have the wrong priorities:
