I'm confused as to what her ass has to do with the movie? I mean yeah it's flat...but why does it matter?

I'm not trying to troll here, I'm genuinely curious to the thought process here.

One part meme, one part women expected to look feminine. Like it or not, we do put expectations on women to look good in leading roles, just as we put expectations on men to not look like weak soyboys. Picture a male lead that chronically skips leg day.

Certain character types can get away with not needing to be sexually appealing. The lead female character heroine is not one of those types. Both men and women expect her to be attractive. The flat ass conflicts with that and is an avenue of criticism.

Explain Tom Cruises action movie success then I guess? I dunno, I just think its a dumb thing to get hung up on and in the end, plays right into what she is saying.

I could give two fucks about her ass. That wasn't even close to being on my radar when enjoying the movie. Her shallow acting is what mattered, her ass mattered zero.

When the character is meant to be a bad ass and the casting takes that literally some fans will be irked.

Her ass came up for the same reason why every other criticism has come up-- she's a feminist attack dog that mauled her audience, so now she's getting mauled back, no matter how irrelevant things like her ass are to playing the role.

What is there to explain? He doesn't look like a weak soyboy. He may be short, but that is easily covered up in production.

You can think it's dumb all you like, but human nature is human nature. The majority of people want to look at pretty people. So when a picture pops up and becomes a meme: People latch onto it.

Nobody is saying the movie is bad because her ass is flat, if that's what you're thinking. It might be a point of criticism, but it's just an easy target for when communicating ones distaste for it, especially for those that focus explicitly on her appearance over other things.

You pick the weirdest ways to defend your soapboxes, Tarrant.

I have no soapbox, you guys are free to not like her ass, thats fine. I'm not a fan of it either as I stated.

I just think its weird that matters this much to some of you, more so when you play right into what shes saying a lot of the time. It's a non factor for me when watching a movie. "Oh her ass sucks...$11 wasted." -shrug-

It's not "playing into" when it's a response to her comments, rather than an unsolicited attack.

Cruise might be a midget but I don't remember him looking like some soyboy nu-male in action films. Also, you couldn't* give two fucks.

Gotcha. Thanks. :)

It's important to remember that situations like these have people talking from varied viewpoints and with varying purposes. Some are using the flat ass thing as a joke. Some are using it as a 'women with flat asses don't deserve to be seen'. Some are angry about the situation and don't know why, and so they latch onto the easy low-hanging fruit in order to vent their frustrations. This same scenario plays out on the other side, and with different issues within both sides. Logic very rarely plays into it, just as logic didn't play into her rhetoric.

I haven't watched the movie (and won't) so I can't comment on how they handled her flat ass outside of the CGI stuff, but I'd wager that shots that featured it prominently were avoided whenever possible. It's common to cover up actors' weak features. For example, Gillian Anderson stood on a box for many scenes in X-Files so she didn't appear so short next to Duchovny, and most people wouldn't know this if they hadn't revealed it.

Correct, however my phone for some reason auto corrects "on" to "in" as well as the majority of contractions to non contraction words. I'm just too lazy to reset the auto correct.
You couldn't give two fucks, one could say.

The main male “lead” in that Valerian movie.

Exactly. That plus him and the girl looking like they were brother & sister killed any potential enjoyment for many people. It was the primary sticking point for people when criticizing the film, rather than the variety of issues the film suffered from.

You were concerned about her shallow acting. I’m concerned about her shallow butt crack.

Yeah Cuckels Magoo and kind of hot but totally forgettable blond were the worst parts of that movie. The world building was actually interesting and I would of been happy to see more but the cardboard acting and lack of anything resembling charisma or chemistry killed that movie.

I don't know the massive amount of incest porn today would say otherwise.

You mean the porn that is full of people that don't look like they're actually related?
