Is it true Mack Brown offered this Jameis Winston kid as a DB too?
Texas didn't offer him a scholarship which is worse than offering him as a DB. Supposedly he wanted to go to Texas, sent his film, and would have accepted if offered but Texas never recruited him. Not sure how much I believe that but it is stupid Texas didn't even try. Oh well.

To be fair, the state of Texas puts like 200+ kids into D-1 football every year. Texas can only offer about 10% of them scholarships, they're going to miss quite a few good players.

That being said, theres no reason Texas shouldn't have 10+ wins every single year. They can have their pick of any of those 200 kids without even really trying. Texas has to be the easiest school to recruit to in the nation, you really don't have to do a damn thing, you're turning away 4-star guys that want to come there.

Being an Illini fan is abuse enough. I don't need it from you turkeys too. Good first week of college football overall though.
I really miss our Mizzou/Illinois matchup to start the season each year. Way the hell more interesting than playing a scrubass FCS school to start the year.

As fun as it is to hate on Mack Brown, from Travis Haney - "FWIW: Was told this am that while Jameis Winston did show interest in Texas, when Horns reciprocated he had already narrowed to Bama/FSU. How did it exactly play out? I'm not really sure. But person I talked to said Winston's calls were to UT commits, not the school itself."

So early the polls have no reflection on what's really going on, having said that I'm still suprised in the AP the number of schools that dropped spots after a win - 4. Not that it matters.

Like I said, I don't really believe it was some done deal or anything. It is still stupid as fuck a school with the resources of Texas didn't at least offer and spend some time on a prospect with that much talent. Mack Brown's out of state recruiting is really bad. Basically, if you are interested in more than two schools, Mack won't even bother.

They didn't start instituting the safety rules until just a few years ago. It hasn't been close to ten years. Not to mention the college game has always been more eager to institute new rules. Also, the game doesn't need people with your mindset.
Without even trying . . . look at "major rule changes".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_NFL_season
I also count 1 in 2001, only looked at 2 years . . . now for math . . . 2013 right now, 2002 then . . . I dont have my watch calculator with me, but I think that is more than 10 years.

Also, your a fucking moron if you think that rule changes etc progress from NCAA up to the NFL and not from the NFL down.

So, when did you start watching or playing football?

Me too, although with the current state of the program you guys would just be curbstomping us. We only beat SIU by 12 and they put up 30+ on us. Cincinnati is going to just steamroll us next weekend.

@Regime:

Yah I'll prob be giving bf4 a go for at least a while, and wouldn't mind playing with you chuckleheads when I'm available.

This is what a real QB does! Teddy for Heisman!

Teddy Bridgewater calls his own plays in no-huddle offense
LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has advanced to the point in his collegiate career where his coaching staff has given him the freedom to not only make pre-snap adjustments but call his own plays when the Cardinals go uptempo or in no-huddle two minute drill situations.

One of the first things head coach Charlie Strong said Tuesday that needs to improve from the Ohio game is the offense getting to the line of scrimmage with more time on the play clock to allow Bridgewater to survey the defense and make his checks.

"Attention to detail, tempo, where we get up on the ball," Strong said in his weekly news conference. "You're looking at a 25-second clock. We were down to like 11, 10 before we ever got the ball snapped. We like to get up on the ball quicker, so Teddy can get a read on the secondary, get a read on the front, and get the play checked to who we need to get it checked to."

If that sounds a lot like Peyton Manning in the NFL, you'd be right. And it probably shouldn't come as a surprise that Bridgewater told a fan on Twitter this offseason Manning is his favorite NFL quarterback...

ESPN is really trying to hype train this ND vs MICH game. Rarely do I ever get to see MICH on ESPN so I don't mind, but I think they might be going overboard. It seems like every day there is 'new' details or something to highlight.

Well shit, if Bridgewater's favorite QB is Peyton Manning, someone may as well tank the NFL season now in order to draft him #1.

It's a good thing his favorite QB isn't someone shitty like Kevin Kolb or his career would be a disaster.

They're losing a high viewer game. That's the only reason it's suddenly being pushed as a crime against humanity for ending.

Mark May claimed he used to watch this while he was growing up. Of course they never even started playing the game until he was in college playing for Pitt. So he never watched it at all.

I think NASCAR is on ABC sat night, so this is the main primetime game. They always hype up whatever the sat night game is going to be on ABC/ESPN.

Well, the matchup of the weekend is obviously Georgia vs South Carolina, but Georgia was already involved with College Gameday last week, and they never have the same team 2 weeks in a row.
