Haha, we got rid of him for Mike Stoops and our D is soooo much better this year. Have fun once he starts recruiting undersized LBs and they start chickenfighting in the gaps. Your top tacklers every year will be safeties.

Edit: for some reason I failed to grasp that you were referring to the tOSU defense. Your team should feel bad for losing to a Venables coached defense.

Pat Forde already calling Strong the worst hire Texas could have made...because, yes, he actually said this, Strong is the anti-Mack Brown. Because they fucking fired Mack Brown to replace him with someone exactly like Mack Brown. Can you really just write any kind of stupid shit you want and be a professional sports writer? I thought Heather Dinich was bad.

He is bad. When I read that I actually felt better about the hire.

Forde is also a huge lousiville homer so he is probably rather salty right now.

I don't think the strong hire is bad; but its not the splash I expected. Feels the same as the USC hire and Hoke at Michigan a few years ago. Those programs just feel like they should be able to get a bigger name than they did. If I was an aggie, sooner, TT, etc fan, id feel pretty good about that hire. Its not that Strong is a bad choice, but its not the huge name that would have sent waves throughout CFB.

Let's be real, if you look at the big program hires, Strong is one of best. His resume is better than the resumes of Hoke, Muschamp, Stoops, Carrol, Brown, Saban at LSU, Meyer at Florida, Sweatervest, and Sark when they were all hired. Saban at Bama and Meyer at OSU are the only ones that has clearly accomplished more at their date of hire.

It just feels like Texas, will ask the money and power could have pulled an internet shattering name. Maybe it wasn't realistic. I don't think Texas tried to go after a ridiculous name other than Saban.

In what time warp did Texas ever hire anybody with the description you are using? If it wasn't for the Sark/Kiffin genius call of giving the ball to White instead of Bush on that 4th and 2 call you'd have 2 NC's in your entire history. My Golden Gophers have more trophies than that for gods sake. Whattsa and you are like long lost brothers or something.

Strong is probably the best of the "realistic" hires. I think they could have done better, but not without pissing off most the fans and donors.

Pat Forde is the worst sports writer in America, and that is an impressive accomplishment given the amount of shit out there.

His statement about the hire isn't that ridiculous if its true. If a big part of the Texas job is stroking off rich oil guys and doing what you can to make the Longhorn Network successful, then Strong won't be happy there and Texas won't be happy with him there. Winning does fix everything, but it can turn Rich Rodriguez on you real fast if he doesn't turn it around in 2 seasons.

Franklin would have been a better hire, but I wouldn't put this in the terrible category. It's very OK.
