Vince Young was a great QB at the college level, only slightly better than Tim Tebow once he hit the NFL. Get the same vibe from Mariota honestly, unless he sits the bench for a couple years.

Those Vince Young vids remind me how disappointing his NFL career has been.... VY could have been a top 10 NFL QB for a decade if he had the right attitude and dedication to his work.

Well yah lacking those attributes was part of it. But his intelligence (or lack thereof) was a much bigger factor in my opinion. You could really tell that he was completely lost when dealing with the more complex offensive/defensive schemes in the NFL.

His immaturity + Jeff Fisher general fuckery did him in. Sadly, he came into the league before it was ready for him. If he came in now, the offenses would be much more prepared for his skill set and to alleviate the harder reads. The real question is if a different coach could have curbed VYs immaturity or not.

He was destined to fail, is why I compared him to tebow. The nfl level is/was much harder and he really couldn't pick it up. This years picks fit the same mold if they have to go out there and play day 1

If 75 schools from outside the power five conferences vote to override the autonomy legislation in the next 60 days, the measures would be sent back to the board of directors for further consideration. But NCAA officials don't expect that to happen. Power league commissioners have made veiled threats about breaking off to form their own division if autonomy fails.
Veiled threats or not, I don't think it is in the best interests of the other teams to allow the Power 5 to have those recruiting advantages. It is going to make competing almost impossible unless you submit and become a part of one of the Power 5.

I think the first thing the Power 5 vote on is changing Boise State's field back to green.

The single colored ones are bad enough, but the alternating color scheme on Central Arkansas' field should be scorched and the university made to pay a fine.

Field color needs to be standardized and in the rules. It isn't a fucking advertisement, it is the goddamn field of play.

It must be a shade of green within a certain range. Alternating between a lighter and a darker shade of green every 5 yards is acceptable.

So once the Big 5 vote themselves the right to put more money in the system can we finally stop having cupcake games? The gap is about to get bigger and the games probably even less competitive.

All in all probably a pretty shitty day to be a football fan of a MAC school.

I doubt they'll give up the cupcake games anytime soon. Those schools are going to still need the large payouts they get for the beatings and the games still sellout even though the game is almost a formality unless your playing Michigan. It's just free money and makes your record look better than it possibly might otherwise.

The SEC can't even agree to a more even schedule with 9 games like every other conference, why would they agree to not get to play Georgia Southern?

If the other 75 block it again (this has happened before) then the big 5 will leave the NCAA and form their own collegiate sports authority. The threat has already been made. The offer on the table now is to take our table scraps or get nothing at all.

Honestly, Division 1-A(FBS) needs to be split. It needs to be done in Football and it REALLY needs to be done in Basketball. 124 FBS teams is too many. Baasically split that in half. The 5 "power" conferences as the new FBS level 1, and the smaller schools as a FBS level 2, however you want to designate it.

I mean, theres zero chance that one of those level 2 teams is ever getting into the playoff anyways, at least not until it expands to at least an 8 team playoff, so whats the difference?

Require that the top-tier of FBS can't play more than 1 team from the lower tier per season, like they do with the FCS now.
