And the windows key isn't highlighted on the OSK? If not, then I can only guess that there's something fucked on the OS level.
Only thing new/different was install Fortnite for 5yo and then remapped keys to better fit little hands. (right ctrl for sprint, etc)

Indeed, cleaned original keyboard and then purchased new one, also happens with On Screen Keyboard.
sometimes the mouse driver also fucks up the keyboard, especially if you have legacy ps2 devices, look out for all your HID's (human interface devices) and uninstall those drivers.

How can I disable Win 10 auto updates? Permanently?

Start by looking at group policy and there is a way to disable it or at least let you decide when to do the update. Not sure you get that ability if you don't have pro, not sure.

I've since been slowly moving my files to drive to prepare for a factory reset.
Either that or buy a computer, which isn't out of the question

Edit: to be less of an asshole are the mouse and keyboard plugged in directly? Unplug any other USB stuff, problem still exist?

You said this was across multiple keyboards? Not using a hub or anything?

Probably the mouse. Does it have extra buttons? They might be set to the windows key. Try installing the logitech software for it and see if you can mess around with it. Or just try a different mouse

And you're using a new windows installation?
With new computer it started with a wizard. First language then timezone. Then prompted to log in or create new. That's when I realized dysfunction

I own no alternate monitor hooks, so I'll try tomorrow after buying parts...

Welp. I hate to break it to you, but there's a curse on you. Someone has a voodoo doll of your computer and is holding the windows key down.

Time to contact a local exorcist (tech repair dude)

But, since the only old thing left is the monitor, might as well connect your PC to your TV via HDMI or something beforehand just in the off-hand chance there's some sort of problem with a potential USB hub in it that's sending bad instructions.

It must be monitor or cord.
I'll buy supplies tomorrow or Wednesday and try again.
