What do people even do in this game that is still enjoyable?
The thing is that they took EQ to the next level with multi-classing. I never got to experience it, but now that it's gone, I kinda wish I had.

At the same time that this emu server was going on, DBG was making shit tier TLP servers and blamed their loses on the emu community rather than accepting that their really bad design decisions as a whole was the reason that people were leaving EQ.

TL;DR ... DBG is losing money because they suck as a company, so they needed someone other than themselves to blame. When they continue to fail after the emu is gone, I guess they will start blaming each other internally and we will see firings until the last idiot is left standing and the company is still losing money.

While I only played for 6 months on THJ before moving on, it was great, I enjoyed every moment.

Making an sk/wiz/brd and storming to 50 to solo Naggy felt awesome.

But only because of the nostalgic value Naggy has, if it was some random mob, the feeling of achievement would be far lesser.

Given that I don't think its realistic to see such an experience ever again.

Class combo's allowed for some hilariously powerful and fun combinations.

Friends and I found this a few months before the lawsuit so we were able to get our fill. We mostly went the SSF route (solo-self found), which meant you farmed your own crap, no buying off the bazaar. Even with the triple classes, it was a fun challenge. Questing up epics and armor to allow you do tougher content was a lot of fun and the big raid milestones still felt good to achieve.

There's lots of private wow servers mentioned here, but once my friends and I had our fill of Everquest, we found one that operated in a similar way to THJ. The server is called Synastria. it's a classic through Lich King server with a twist. As you obtain loot and gear, that gear gains exp as you use it and once the exp is full, you "attune" to that piece of gear. Your character retains 20% of the stats on that item which makes WoW into almost an incremental game. The more gear you get and attune, the stronger you get. You begin playing WoW like normal, but eventually you're soloing raids. After THJ, it scratched that nostalgia WoW itch without us having to worry with grouping. Not everyones cup of tea, but it's pretty enjoyable if you find yourself in the mood for a solo WoW experience.

that sounds really interesting and I immediately went to look for it and then saw it was 1.0x exp rate and /facepalm. solo power fantasy works when you dont have to spend a month leveling up first like its 2004.

I don't get the appeal of THJ. Ez-mode emus have existed for a long time. In fact all of them are to some degree. You're not really beating the real content solo-- you're beating a fake mob that is using the model of the real NPC but with much weaker stats.

My primary task for TAKP was to ensure correct NPC stats and combat mechanics so that the game felt accurate and had the same difficulty; but apparently most people don't care about this and just care that the sack of hitpoints they brought down looks the same, which is mostly the client's responsibility thus emu devs never had to build it.

Daybreak's servers have a similar problem however because they've layered on or changed so many things over the years to make the game easier which is one reason why I never played on one of their TLPs despite being willing to spend many thousands of hours trying to recreate an older version of EQ. I had to account for all of the later additions and factor it out while collecting and parsing data. WoW classic fans were actually concerned about this stuff but EQ fans are not, weirdly.

So you don't understand the appeal of action RPG games like Diablo? That's what THJ turned EQ into. I played "hard mode" vanilla EQ up until LDON and have no desire to replay that shit over again. Most of that magic can only be experienced once.

Same reason I have no desire to replay WoW classic servers. Even the WoW EMUs don't look to do anything close to what THJ did to change the nature of the game.

Not every change is the dumbing down of things. Vaniki made it easier to land spells, but to compensate for a giant level gap. Phinny and onwards have had dozens of guilds raiding easily accessible instance content, but with buffs slapped onto the raid mobs. Just because a lot of tlp shit is bad doesn't make it all bad.

You can manually adjust your exp rate in game with .exp commands, you aren't stuck at 1x unless you choose to be. You can also insta level to 80 (or lower) if you prefer when you speak to a custom "innkeeper" that is standing the starter zone when you create a character. This npc will level you, provide you with starter gear at your new level, and can teleport you to Dalaran. Reputation, factions and tradeskill rates are also boosted.

There's a lot about that server I didnt mention because i didnt want to shit up this thread talking about something else. Their FAQ and starter guide in their discord has a ton of info

Oh no, the imaginary thing on my pc screen was not the authentic imaginary thing I thought it would be. All the fun I had in THJ is negated.

What's more funny is hes completely wrong. The mobs all had the correct stats. Player power was inflated (by triple classing and then item inflation).

Imaginary thing on my screen had the same hp and hit just as hard and as fast as it did 25 years ago just now I can take the hits without having to gather up 71 other autistic retards to help me beat it or argue about the loot drops

You've got some serious fucking mental issues.

First off, I uninstalled that shit tier game long ago. It does not exist on any computer I own dumb fuck. I get that you are one of the devs here pretending to be johnny-come-lately shilling for your shit ass excuse of a job, but read the room fuck tard; nobody but you gives two fucks about DBG nor DPG. It's a shit company that makes shit games to hide a mony laundering operaion for Russion oligarchs. Nobody here actually thinks EQ has a future nor does anyone here actually give a fuck. We're here to roast your shit company.

Now please do us all a favor and delete your fake ass forum account that magically showed up JUST IN TIME to defend DBG in the discussion of the lawsuit.

Go make another pride pet you fucking retard.

This has to be one of the worst mental spirals in EQ ive seen in a while.

You dont even have the game installed and your dedicating this much of your life to it, sounds like Jchan gives you sticky sheets in the morning with all that free rent shes collecting in your head.

THJ had an income of 1 mil / year, and I'm sure those are low estimates, the really big deals probably weren't through the system.

How are those other emus doing? Or DBG?
