Duh fuck are temp powers? So besides grinding for gear there are powers to?
If you are going to be elite, you are going to grinding gear, farming exo's and skill points, and using your temp powers. It's something like 3,150 marks of triumph monthly to unlock each tier 4 monthly. And then you have to pay upkeep on your utility belt.

There's no comparison anymore. You'll get owned in both PVE and PVP without this stuff. And with the new patch, you'll need something like 140 sp to be maxed out in your role.

There's no choice but to keep up with the Joneses.

Maint costs are deceptive. You get a 6000 marks of triumph for 100 marks of war at the war room koisk. So the choice really is: Save 400 MoW for 50 feat points or run 2 t4 base powers? Once you hit one full t4 set it really is not a difficult choice.

Of course the new patch will fuck that up. Current t4 raids are being converted to Triumph rewards instead of War rewards I think, since t5 will be based on War. I doubt you'll see 60:1. I expect 50:1, maybe 25:1.

The skill point revamp borders on game-breaking for me. I play a dual specced elec. As it is right now with 115 SP I can dps or heal. New patch is gonna make me choose. 75% chance I'm just gonna choose to play something else.

Just respec. I know that answer sucks, but they've had a hard time giving us the ability to switch builds on the fly. I was told in closed beta, that they had this function in, and it was buggy as hell. They still haven't fixed it, apparently it's more difficult than we think (or not a high priority).

That part doesn't bother me, what bothers me is that you need 140 sp to be maxed at your role, when before you could do it in the mid 80's. I hit mid 80's on my toons and then stopped.

You've had 14 months to get to tier 5. What were you doing from Feb 2012 until May 2013?

That's too damn long, and why a lot of my leaguemates quit. I've been told by the devs, that going forward, we won't be waiting over a year for the newest tier.

No real drive to come back and grind so i can sit at stagnant content for months. I did that shit for the first year and it got fucking old.

The "Powers That Be" tell me we'll get new tiers faster from now on. I guess they got tied up adding in new PVP content, the two new Ops, the exobits and Home Turf stuff (temp powers, new missions, lair PVP). The problem, for me anyway, is that we were so powerful that I stopped grinding. There was no need for it. Now there is, I'm getting owned in solo missions from Home Turf, because they are assuming you've done all of this stuff. If you haven't, you die fast. I'm getting KO'd by trash outside of Stryker's on the solo missions, and I'm max combat rating.

The add on systems have gone from "Who Cares?" to "Must Have" real quick. If T4 solo missions are this hard (some of them are almost unsoloable), how hard will the T5 raids be?

I'm not complaining, the game needed an increase in difficulty. It's just that it got real steep real quick.

Here's a one hour preview of Quantum. The new powerset is on test right now, along with the new T5 stuff.

The conversion wasn't as bad as I'd feared it was going to be. I couldn't find any good info on the skillpoint revamp. What few threads I'd been reading -- well, it turns out that forum warriors just like to whine and blow things completely out of proportion. They were making it sound like something that it isn't.

I'm just amazed that they've made the grind to 88 less. A lot less. I mean it's sensible, but fuck -- I didn't really expect these guys to do anything sensible. lol.

That 89+ grind is going to be brutal though. People have been facerolling content so long that everyone thinks the game is about farming the scoresheet rather than paying attention to encounters. And with the t5 armor up for preview -- the gearflation leads me to think there's going to be "avoid the 1shot" mechanics like there are in Prime.

Pug primes are awful.

But that's not the fault of the devs... most of the players just suck. heh.

Why would you PUG prime? It doesn't matter what gear you have in there, if you don't have a brain (or decent reflexes) you lose. I only run prime with my league.

I have just started playing this game and I am fully enjoying it. After a small break from MMo's, then playing eq2 for a few months, I am finding the combat and movement in DCUO to be awesomely fun. I am unsure if I want to get more serious about it though.

Edit for grammar.

Right? I watched it live and was disappointed I d/led the game again. :/
I'm having fun again, but I haven't played in a long time. If T6 takes a year to launch from now (like the last one did), I'll not be happy.

those devs are fucking mouth breathers.
They are alright, they are just working long hours, between the last update and this DLC. You'd be tired if you were working 14 hour days too.
