Wonder if they got some kind of news from SyFy all back-channel like that after this last season, that's it for the show. Between that andDestinylaunching, that'd put them into high scramble mode (even though the game was falling enough on it's own)

edit: annnd.. wtf? They are now going to sell a SUB to this game as well, lol? Between Rift and this game, this company has some fucked up business acumen.

Interesting it looks like they are making a new defiance game. I enjoyed the first one for a good bit until some of the technical limitations of the original engine just started to bother me. If they can fix some of the technical problems and update the game engine I would probably give this a shot again.

I remember playing the beta with this and just feeling "meh" the entire time. I think even then, it was plagued with microtransactions. The world seemed very limited as well. But hell, if 2050 has any good reviews - I wont scoff at installing this new version and trying it. Better be a strong hook if they want any money though.

I'm a fan of the original. Any Loot n' Shoot game holds a special place in my heart. In still played this up to a about a year ago on and off, even though it was obviously dying, mainly because there are so few decent MMO shooters to fill the void.

This reboot is without a doubt a cash grab. Improve the graphics a bit, update a few systems, replace progression systems with ones which they can monetize for expediency / cosmetic system. Most likely very little if any actual new story or gameplay. But I'll still play since there isn't much else to compete with it. Not about to spend much money on it though.

I think a lot of the new one is so they can launch it on the modern game systems which also allows them to up the graphics and redo some mechanics but I will give it a twirl to check it out. I played the original enough to see all the content at that time and for what it was I enjoyed it. They had some interesting weapon options like the head crab infection gun things which amused the hell out of me.

What is Defiance 2050?

Will there be a beta test for Defiance 2050?

How much does the game cost?

Defiance 2050 will launch as a tailored free to play experience with exciting new systems to explore. To expand your experience, we will also be offering a variety of optional purchasable items that are not tied to power.



Will there be character data carried over from original Defiance?

To thank the amazing Defiance community for their support, we’ll be offering some cool rewards in the lead up to Defiance 2050. Existing Defiance players will be able to take select rewards to Defiance 2050 with the Valor Program. Players who earned specific unique titles, such as “Old School”, will be able to transfer the title to their new character and show them off in Defiance 2050. Account based upgrades, like character and loadout slots, will be transferable as well.

While Defiance players will be able to earn Valor for Defiance 2050, substantial changes in progression, mission structure, and the game’s economy prevent the transferring of characters and items between the original game and Defiance 2050. More details about the Valor Program will be shared soon.
