It was always cheapest at Micro center. I hear they lose money on the shit, but as long as it gets people through the door. They always had the cheapest proc prices and also always had discounts on mo-bo/proc bundles. I have one thats abotu 45 in away and always go there for mo-bo and proc. And usually end up picking up some other crap there too.

So right now I've got the following in an ebay cart:
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MGz Memory Kit (2x16gb, PC3200, CAS16)
GIGABYTE Z370 AORUS Gaming 3
Intel Core i7-8700K

Edit: Ended up buying just the RAM, $271 after discount.

Going to try and hit up a Microcenter for CPU+Mobo

I agree and I want to let go, but it's a couple things working against me. First, I don't think I know what I'm missing. I'm like things are fine, I don't need more! When if I would upgrade I'd be like holy shit this is amazing!

Second thing is with 3 kids, I'm slowly accepting the fact that I'm not gonna be able to go blow $1200 plus monitor cost on a whole new setup.

Talked to my buddy again today. For his chip, board, and ram he wants $300.

Edit:
PCPartPicker part list: System Builder - Ryzen 7 1700 3GHz 8-Core - PCPartPicker
Price breakdown by merchant: System Builder - Ryzen 7 1700 3GHz 8-Core - Prices By Merchant - PCPartPicker

CPU: AMD - Ryzen 7 1700 3GHz 8-Core Processor ($219.89 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock - X370 KILLER SLI/ac ATX AM4 Motherboard ($114.89 @ OutletPC)
Memory: G.Skill - FORTIS 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-2400 Memory ($170.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $505.70
Do not buy 1000 series ryzen, buy the 2000.

What is a good 27" 1440 144hz monitor going for these days? Considering going balls out and getting one for my main monitor and keeping my 70hz 27" for a secondary. It must have a Vesa mount.

I love my Asus PG279Q. 1440p, Gsync, and IPS.

I've got an Origin PC I've never used that I need to get rid of. Willing to sell it for best offer.

No idea if this is a thing in this thread, it just seemed like the best place to try.

MSI X99A Raider
Intel Core i7 6850k

Wait, is this the one that you posted about in this thread that was such a shipping nightmare and we all thought it was crazy you were paying so much?

Yup!

The silver lining is that I ended up with two PC's for the price of one.

I looked up the parts on PC Part Picker and it looks like it's $2500 value in parts alone.

Neither metaphor is exactly right, as the extra RAM is not really bogging down the system. I just think if one has the means, there's no real reason to not get the extra.

That said, I use a 6700k and 16GB and stream WoW at 1080p and never really get bogged down. I've never had a moment where more RAM would've helped me.
