Pull the trigger ASAP. DDR3 and sound cards are hard to come by these days.

$350 4.7GHz 9590 is 10 years old? It's at the top of the list in pcpartpicker.

Ohhh, I had a part limiting my options. Will fix.

My current build is from April 2020, so I'm still prob a year away from buying. Just starting to look around and tinker.

7700X is better in gaming in some scenarios and a lot cheaper, also x3d chip should hit 1st quarter.

I would not bother with a sound card, on board sound is pretty good these days. You also probably don't need to spend that much on a motherboard, you can spend half that and the difference is generally like some ports. I'd probably consider a 1000w power supply but I don't know that you need it, I'm not sure what kind of power the 7900 xtx is actually drawing.

I second these comments.

Really examine the difference in motherboards and see if you care about them. Sometimes it's just more options/slots you'll never use.

PSU can probably be fine but with the way the build is and depending on overclocking, going a bit higher for 1k isn't much of a stretch.

I think I'm already using the same MOBO, lol. I bought a ROG Strix pre-built with a 3080 during COVID, so now I'm wondering if I don't just scrap it for parts.

There is no reason to upgrade your shit right now. Unless yorue dong some scientific BS on your computer for work and NEED the latest and greatest youre prob in the top 10% of PCs played right now in gaming. There is not even games to tax what you have right now so im at a loss why you want to drop $3K on a PC that you have no use for? And if youre looking a year out, well in a year there is gong to be new generations in all things, so why even look now, shit in 6 mos the market will drastically change let alone a year.

Decided to take the plunge. UM690 Ryzen 9 6900hx with a Radeon 680M graphics card. Basically they use laptop parts for these, which is fine. Waiting for it to be shipped out. Will report if it sucks or not.

So, it came while I was asleep yesterday. Fucking DHL driver signed for me for delivery, but no one stole it so no harm no foul I suppose. 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. About to plug it in and start getting set up.

So, painless to install. Just plug and play. Ended up learning about syncing firefox, so that was decent as well. Now I need to thoroughly comb through all my apps and shit on my old computer and start cleaning it up to donate to a local school.

The new computer itself is pretty baller. You can use it horizontal as show above or use the piece to the left of it to use it vertically, which is what I did. You definitely get a bit of heat coming out of the top, but it runs smooth as butter. I will do a lot more with it after I unclutter my current desk that has 2 computers underneath and get my new one with some shelving built in. Will move my remaining computer up top on the left on shelves, move my monitor lower so I can stop having to look up at it, and clean a lot of wires up.

New desk:
