On to the second part, I think my mobo is probably the issue with my system locking up so I am going to replace it. While looking at different motherboards and CPU's I was going to upgrade to maybe a i7-7700 which are about $300 with mobos ranging from $150-200 so about $500 together. Thing is I have an i5-4760k and it seems that as far as processors go it's solid and really not in any need of an upgrade. I was hoping I could find a mobo that would handle upgrades but it looks like my CPU is a socket 1150 and the i7 I am looking at is a 1151 so if I buy a new motherboard I either need to spend $200 to keep what I have with no upgrade potential or just say fuck it and buy both a mobo and CPU. Again thoughts an opinions from some of you guys better educated would be awesome.
Socket fuckery is unfortunately the price you pay for buying Intel. You might want to check out an 8 series CPU since they changed the socket again (the pins and notch on the CPU still line up with the 7 series though) but the only motherboards out for them are the Z370s at the moment.
