Which is why we need a bigger spectrum. That way we can label kids who can't even as autistic but low spectrum and high functioning can be much further along, with stuff like full nonverbal further still. Much preferable to a No True Scotsmantism dismissal. I'm sure the outcome would be similar to the Kinsey scale where 90% of people are like "I'm a zero" but oh well.

Too lazy to read all 5 pages, but no kids today are no worse than we were.

21 year old kids in the bar at 29 are starting to russle my jimboys real good. Just kidding, it's still the 15% of dudes I get along with, 75% I'm amicable to, and 10% that rub me the wrong way.

My sister said they are having real problems hiring people. Not because they do a background check, but because you can't have or use a cell phone on the jobsite for alarm/security installation. Something about taking pics of the system and such. She said guys come in and are qualified and pass a background check and then just never come back when they are told they will get a voice only phone with no camera (IE not a smart phone) to carry in the field. They pay pretty good from what she says and she's over the HR department. Doesn't exactly have high requirements either.

Her husband said they were having a tough time hiring people/kids at McDonalds as well starting at $10.50/hour. He was supervisor over half a franchise of 40 stores up until 6 months ago.

That's just an excuse for raising kids like retards I'm sorry. That shit became most prolific in California of all places. We had no specialist in Canada to deal with austic children so my parents paid for private specialists from California. My parents had to be careful because of all the quacks that existed too. It was a god damn minefield my parents told me. Hell, by some of the standards they give these children the diagnosis in fucking autistic.

Honestly, sub-24 folks are not autistic, or even close. Granted, we -have- upgraded the autism spectrum to include a few more observable activities/predilections, but I don't think it encompasses the youth as much as it is a more global awareness. The various people who are simply more introverted and in their 40s and living alone with their hobbies might potentially be autistic by the more broad categorization of behavior.

It's just as case specific as it has always been. Autism is just a more popular "ailment" (thanks in large part to the adamant anti-vaxxers) and media coverage in the modern era that focuses on entertainment/shock value vs. facts. I've met, in my couple of years doing UC (university of california for those not in the know) consulting, a pretty standard amount of people who I feel would fall on the autism spectrum. It certainly isn't out of whack with people my own age (mid 30s) nor with what I have experienced in school when I was younger. I disagree with their ideas more because college kids have vastly different ideas than actual adults (on average) and lack the experience to understand, in some cases, the silliness of their stance. But them being wrong doesn't make them autistic.

As someone with an Autistic brother and an Autistic child every thing you have posted here, including your parents opinions, are not only incorrect but borderline offensive.

Fortunately, there's nothing wrong with being offended, even if SJW will preach otherwise.

Well you haven't been wrong so far.

I'm 31 and technically a millennial, but don't relate at all to the 20 somethings. I remember life before smart phones and the Internet. Oh and I played eq and have been on these forums for well over 10 years so my online age is prob 40 +.

And if you have autistic family members are they mentally retarded. Because that is a key point in being autistic. Not "oh look, they are OCD or stuck in their own little world". I honestly believe some people use it as an excuse or as a badge of honour lately. I find those "I have autism" videos that float around as offensive too because the kids are fucking forming perfect sentences and are looking at the camera. I have never met an autistic child who is even aware they suffer from a crippling mental disability and can focus long enough to make their own god damn video about it.
Again this is not to say autistic people can't be intelligent as my brother alone can give you any date of any family event, memorized every video game perfect but in the end he cannot live an independent life. And that right there is why I get offended. So be offended. I get offended all the time by retard anti vaxxers and people who aren't autistic using it as a shield for their shitty behaviour.
