g-portal has dune server pre-orders listed
$554 a year for a 40 slot server. 40 is the max. or $57 month to month.
$111 a year for a 6 slots server. or $11 month to month.

Yeah that looks like the initial Enshrouded g-portal stuff.

Hosting is probably trivial but they don't want to let everything out asap. The downside is always that most non-fiber providers massively curtail your upload, so it severely limits how well some games can do multiplayer with more than 2-3 people.

Listing of servers on the 5th. Anyone plan on playing? If there is interest, could try to pick a world server/sietch server for forum people to go to

I plan on playing. Have they announced East Coast, West Coast, etc. servers yet? That's more what I'm interested in vs. name.

Also, Preload is apparently available.

I may peep this. i haven't read up on it. is the game going to be like ark/valheim where you either play on a massive server f ull of chinamen, or rent your own?

is it going to have forced PVP? or pve / pvp servers? or primarily pve with pvp flags/areas?

Public servers are pve in hagga basin (your home instance/“server”) and pvpve in deep desert (world server level).

Private servers are owners choice in terms of PvP in hagga basin. Deep desert is still pvpve but it is private server shared with other private servers

I'm probably playing on US West, unless we can all agree on a Central server to congregate on.

I hate to be dense (it happens a lot) but I haven't been following this game at all (or RUST etc) and am a bit lost on the private server description. All I want to know is:

1. Will renting a private server prevent random people from building shit on my server? Or does all the building take place in the "shared" zones that they've already said will be multiplayer even for private servers?

Thanks!

Most of your building and permanent base(s) arein Hagga basin, which is your private server. You can build in the deep desert, but that zone gets wiped once a week so those bases are usually more used as staging areas. Deep desert will be shared with other private servers on your world server

I'm sure they will try. But, as far as I know, there is no way for them to kill off a server in Dune like they do in Ark. Unless they find a glitch or hack to raid bases in the PvE areas. They could possibly figure out, with enough accounts, how to wall off the spawn area or other important areas like they do in Ark.

There is some forced PvP, some of the quests take you into the PvP areas of the Basin. You also need to visit wrecks, open pvp, for some materials. But these areas are small, in and out in under 10mins. People could possibly camp there and I'm sure they will be messy on launch.

The best base locations will be taken quickly. There are only a few place in Sheol where you can build, which will be taken VERY quickly, becuase it has endgame stuff.

Just remember to use your scanner, you can detect players through walls.

Gross.

I mean there's an audience, that will buy the game and play for a couple of weeks. I'll check back in 30 days and see if the playercount has dropped to less than 10%. I think it will be lower, but I guess we'll see.

PVP ruins games.

The player count will drop faster and harder than POE2. The game gets really repetitive quickly. Most major streamers or anyone with a large guild will be done with the game in a week or two. Unless you force yourself to procrastinate, you will be mostly finished with the game in a couple of weeks.

The story is Death Stranding level of weird and is worth playing through, but not for full price. The price should drop quickly as the player base.

The more I hear about this one the less I want to play it.
