We had a guy like this and he had huge stuttering in game too. Apparently he was still using a old HDD to run the game and windows. He upgraded to a SSD and clear as day now.

That shader thing for me only takes 20 seconds or so.


Still having fun. Just got buggy and man its a huge QoL for mining. Now I can head back to base with 2-3k ore instead of 500 or so(with my bike storage and myself). Makes making aluminum and cobalt paste so much easier. Gonna start working on wind traps for more water production, wind turbines so I dont have to keep plopping down more generators and finally the othocopter. Then i can start in on aluminum weapons/armor and start doing contracts again in the more northern lands.

One thing I wish is this game to have backpacks or something to make your personal inventory larger. I fill up way too damn fast, when I need to carry around blood sacks, literjons, ammo, bandages etc.

I think like was mentioned previously is that there are constant iterations going on so the shader stuff is likely dependent upon how often you log in during a given day.

Anybody still using a HDD for anything other than storing porn or movies streaming companies delisted in 2025 is doing it very, very wrong haha. SSDs are at the cheapest they've ever been; it's like 50 bucks for 1tb unless you are looking for enterprise grade nvme and even then it's like 150.

Naww man my shit is installed on a 2TB samsung M1. And IDK how this shit is taking you 20 sec, its literally like 3 min for me.

These are my two NVME SSD and I tried both and the game acts exactly the same with the shader bullshit. Its on my C now. Game runs fine otherwise except a crash here and there. But I get no stutters or big loss of frames. Usually around 120FPS at my settings.

Now IDK if this is good or bad, but its in line with the numbers I got on above post when I ran it in 2023. Thats like 3.4 gigs a second, lol.

Yeah, its lore accurate. When you go to refine into blocks, pay attention because it blows through water very quickly.

Enjoying the game a lot, people on my server are super chill. Many bases have cistrins outside of them for people to use, which is super cool. I have one outside mine as well, along with a public chest that people will put stuff into as a tip for the water. The community has been pretty cool so far.

Don’t know how long it will last but this game is awesome and tickles all the right places for me.

I posted before that I'm really not a survival game guy, but man... been hearing a lot of folks are having fun when they find a good community server like Tarrant is talking about. I miss the days when MMORPGs had that feel about them.

My friend’s house blew up twice so far. He was remodeling and destroyed a floor tile and entire house exploded with some of the fabricators still there and the mats for everything lying on the ground. He lost like 3 cisterns full of water. Usually building game prevent you from removing a part that has something attached to it. But not Dune in typical Funcom fashion.

So warning be careful if you’re trying to change the layout of your house it could blow up.

Yeah, structural "integrity" is a thing that Funcom has had since Exiles, but they do a really poor job of representing it in the building UI. I've just always done my builds with support columns, especially if you're doing multiple levels. It still isn't perfect, but I've noticed it helps remove a lot of what you're describing about houses "blowing up".

just as a warning: I accidentally fucked up my claimed last night while redesigning my base. I deleted a block that was under the fife console and that destroyed the fife. I didn’t expect that to happen since it’s floating in the air.
Took a lot of fiddling to get my base back under control since I’m directly adjacent to a no build zone and my structure is big as fuck.

After last night, I have a section of my base, where if I place 2 walls it summons a worm who comes and eats those 2 walls. Not the roof or foundation its on, but just the 2 walls.
