Alright then. Monster server part two? Will be interesting to see what else that particular server offers. Just that alone will not interest me enough to come back.

Discord was the name of the pvp competition server.

At level 6 you were flagged for open pvp. No race/class restrictions. Perma death with full item loot. You were awarded points for killing anyone within like 12 levels of you.

The competition was supposed to last 3 months.

The server was shut down after THREE WEEKS.

After two weeks there was only like 20ish people on in the evenings. Everyone else either stayed logged off to keep what points they had farmed or they had quit in frustration after being flat out roflstomped by everyone else. After a few deaths I made a druid and survived to the end at level 44 with my buddy at 45 on his cleric.

Probably the most fun I've had in gaming. Something special about porting into Misty Thicket with a group of high level friends. Shouting "Flee Mortals" and watching everyone scramble to log off or make it to town as I run through the starter area hitting everyone with 13 minute ensares and then we all beat the lowbies to death with hand to hand as they slowly run to the guards while pleading for their miserable pathetic lives.

Remembering this poor level 6 halfling crawling away trying to type help but all he could say is HEPL repeatedly in shout as my druid slowly meleed him to death unarmed brings a tear to my eye.

Discord was still the era of really slow skill ups so even though it had double exp it felt so fucking terrible to make another character.

Excuse me, it's about 220 degenerates, and they would play for about 5, maybe 30 minutes and log off upon seeing the cash shop.

im just gonna go ahead and say it... eq pvp is fun because its fun to be an asshole in open world... but bad idea for a TLP because the assholery that exists even without pvp is a scientific phenomenon

wish they had a warsong gulch equivalent tho

I'd play a monster server, shit would be fun just to log in as a mob every day for an hour or 2 and mess with players.

I will never do EQ pvp again though.

Any thoughts on maybe some kind of event server where a raid/boss mob spawns in a random zone? Gets announced, and everyone has to potentially group/raid up to kill it? Has some time/requirement based cadence. Seems like something that could potentially get ported to live servers.

In your head there's a bunch of guilds who will get kills depending on luck, but in reality it's going to be the same guild getting every open world kill just like it is now. Normies will just have the pleasure of randomly dying sometimes when the raid mob spawns on top of them
