Wasn't there a progression server that only unlocked the next xpac after n guilds cleared the raid bosses for that xpac? Would be cool if the engine could support it being character/guild specific (you unlock the next xpac by clearing the previous xpac end boss). The idea of a 'tlp rush' from classic to GoD is pretty neat, but psycho.

If you had a 'GoD time locked' server, but the previous expansions were 'end boss' locked, I'd imagine you'd just see the entire server pool resources to push the server to GoD asap? Release a pair of those servers and have them race against one another in that case.

GoD unlocks when Sleeper dies. Would be the only way to get the server to rally together but also be one of the most hilariously creative collaborations.

Sleeper/Combine unlocked once an expansion was complete which could include different things for different expansions. At least one of each epic had to be completed in Kunark for example. There was also I think a one month minimum duration for each expansion.

Sleeper/Combine in 2007 unlocked new content when progress was complete each expansion. This included all epics and in Velious included completing one of each Velious armor set for each faction.

Fippy and Vulak also required raid progression to complete before they started a 3 month timer to unlock the next expansion.

Ragefire and Lockjaw required raid progression to complete then began a 6 month timer to unlock.

Fippy-Lockjaw also required a popular vote so each expansion the server could delay the new expansion release. These polls were often retarded or broken. Usually PoP remained open longer than intended as guilds could finally raid and had a lot of gearing to make up for since usually the top guild had spent the previous 12+ month cockblocking all meaningful raid content (no instances pre PoTime back then).

A few emu servers have done this. So it is absolutely doable.

The expansion where they took a bunch of gay bottoms and told them to keyboard slam and name creatures.

TEB was big enough and successful enough that it wouldn't be surprising if it got an unlicensed bootleg franchise guild on whatever the May TLP is.
