You do realize EverQuest has over 13 thousand AA points and over 600 zones. How long are they planning to stretch this out? 26 years ?
This was a huge problem for me , especially when you see emus like THJ and Triune that give way more options. I'm surprised anyone wants to a) start in classic and b) be stuck there for MONTHS prior to the next expansion release. Just play a TLP if you want that and it doesnt cost an extra box price+sub. Fuck is daybreak going to sue them for taking players from their next TLP? I get the problems with adding all new content to the expansions to meet expectations but FFS dont sue the people doing a good job at it then rush a bullshit product out trying to capitalize without a plan or product ready to go.

If they use up all the existing aa options that exist through to live, by like luclin, the fuck do they do?
They are not going to give you 13K AA, some that are super op 100 expansions in, lol. THJ gave us like 4-5K specifically chosen and curated per class to be OP but not too OP. And I remember the devs of THJ being asked if any more AA would be added and they specifically said no in one of thei stereams. They said MAYBE they would add some to some classes that needed more balance in the future. But I gotta tell you that was a problem with THJ. If you played 1-2 characters over time you pretty much maxxed out AA. Only thing you had left was to camp the current end game raid and level up items. Farm sleeper every day for those precoius block augs. They added an AA so that you could use AA exp on item leveling. I think I had like 4500AA on my main dude and that was jsut from running the raids over and over. I think I stopped actually farming the AA at like 2300 or some shit.

But from what I saw in Legends is that while AA are turned on all the time, kind of like a passive AA gain while you level, they came in really slow compared to thj. You would get like 40+ AA per clear of Dragon Necropolis n THJ. They also gave us plenty of double EXP events and weekends which would double this. The pet cucks would jsut leave their toons on at night or while at work and the pets would farm AA for them AFK. So the pace is different. But the AA in THJ were motre impactful because you got the whole set up front. They were not slow walked to you every expansion. Like Legends will udoubtedly do. LIke CA and CS for example, I think we got like 16 ranks of that shit in THJ wile Legends only has 3 each. So yeah more impacful for sure.

More of the class defining stuff too like monk kick and punch doing like 10x dmg tied to AC of boots and gloves. Pallys slay the dead which would literally one shot the dead, even without attacking, just by a rioste. and like the above I linked, 1h damage doubled while having shield. All kinds of shield block and other shit. Healing stuff too. Rangers got their headshot stuff and all their bow crap. etc... Rogues got their assasinate line, basically could become invisible to ANYTHING so they never had to do any trash, not even deal with the FD or anything. Jsut sneak by all the trash right up to raid mob and slay, then on to the next. Etc.... Bards had almost just as good skip AA that would drop all aggro if no LOS and you could just spam it. Train one minute and next youre fighting raid boss.

I know we're not the same players we were 25+ years ago but I think they've struck a nice balance of how things were with modern QoL. Admittedly I barely hit 50 before Kunark so I didn't grind the vanilla end game but I'm happy with EQL being a time-locked trip down memory lane. If you've hardcore'd your way to every class and every meaningful AA in the first month, good for you. See you when Kunark launches. I'm thoroughly enjoying the ride; revisiting places, (formerly) hard camps/bosses, and classes and quests I never did originally. Lots of AAA games for $60+ haven't given me nearly the /played this has so to me it's a great value.

Players will take the path of least resistance but if all you've done is the Befallen/Guk/Hole/Planes treadmill x12 you shouldn't be surprised that you're bored.

Rizlona’s Embers only helps the group and won’t give me 15% bonus?

also what do motes do for songs like selos and over haste ?

The only songs worth upgrading are dot chants (extra tick at +5), DDD, charm (8-10). Everything else is basically duration.

whats cool about this game is that it doesnt matter what the hard core people complain about... could be 5 people on the server and i'd be casual dad chilling grinding an hour a day

I got every class unlocked and +10 BiS Sky quest weapon in 4.5 days played over like 3ish weeks. But even then I only have 280 AA's and realistically I could probably get about 200 more that are immediately useful. All my gear is +5 or +6 but there's certain items like Engineer's ring and a lot of other Inny drops that are worth putting some effort into +10ing. The racial unlocks range from 15 minutes of pre-bought turn ins to 6-10 hours of grinding and foraging. There's definitely stuff to do, but it's really up to the player. Seeing the "I beat the game" guys with their Sky weapon and only 3 classes to 50 with like 110 AA's just goes to show that the end of the game is different from person to person.

On THJ I just blasted to hardest content, managed to do it, farmed 1400 AA's and was done. There weren't enough items during my AA grind to evolve and I was just hammering daily raid chores trying to get. Think both characters I did it on were at the 3-4 days played as well. Very similiar timing. The fact that this is just Classic and not 4 expacs deep like THJ when I was playing is decent as classic is pretty barren. A lot of the people comparing this to THJ's "stuff to do" are doing it to 4-5 expacs worth of shit. They also don't remember that AA's were released in bunches with each expac release so you didn't start with all that shit in Classic and they added a dozen AA's to some classes during expac releases.

I'll let them hit another month of my sub to see if they shake things up, but unless I see some sort of true end game grind with challenge beyond just D4 raids I'll probably halt it until Kunark. The non-respawning stuff they're testing on the test server makes me think high level dungeon runs are coming, but since those changes were announced last week for test and not pushed with latest patch it may be weeks before we even get the main game push. For those that don't know:

On test they're putting in a thing for non-respawning instances where you basically get "completion" for killing every rare in the instance/dungeon and then at the end you get a chest to spawn that spawns extra loot from the pool of loot those rares dropped.

I'm hopeful this is tech used to make scaling dungeons or challenging dungeons, but it may just be a gimme to new/lower players who aren't at a huge power advantage and want to creep through a dungeon over 2-3 hours instead of getting blasted in a respawning. A real, as much as I fucking hate this stupid word, "TIME RESPECTER".

I'd love for LGuk or SolB or Mistmoore all to get boosted to like lvl 45-55 so you could do that content and get good exp/motes while doing it. It'd be like an alternate EQL version of THJ's level locking to grind AA's.

Every time a new exp pack opened up on THJ and you hit your "unlock" requirement, you were blasting into the next end game raid zone to farm the loot. After, of course, the trivial leveling session. In Kunark it was VP, Velious it was TOV and so on. No one was farming "dungeons" leading up to that content. All the best shit dropped from the raids so thats what people did. And this was a big problem, IMO, in THJ. And it will be the same shit in this game if they dont address it somehow. Maybe with their revamps? IDK. Slow the leveling down so people can smell the roses a bit? IDK. But yeah I dont see people farming lowbie shit other than leveling up to the next cap and heading right for the end game shit.

I mean you gotta think, 1/2 of those early expansions was lowbie shit. Including Luclin which had tons of lv 1-40 zones and shit including dungeons. POP was the first true end game expansion and even there was a ton of lv 46-50ish planes when the level cap at the time was already 65. So I think people in Legends are doing themselves a disservice on leveling up all the classes to 50 during classic while there is plethora of awesome content in Kunark, Velious, Luclin for the lowbies. And also their timeframe of being stuck in classic for so long is not helping shit either.

I remember there was talks on THJ that they were going to add in a "dungeon finder" feature. Where they would take a random dungeon, instance it, level it up to your level, or downgrade your level to the dungeons level, they were undecided on that, and you would do this content in a group or solo with a reward at the end if you did all the bosses or some shit. This would help for sure.

moot point. we are gonna be prestige/reincarnating or whatever from L1 to boost stats or some shit. infinite leveling cycle will be available end of year/kunark.

Enjoyed the month. Only got 4 classes to 50. Going to wait until Kunark for other classes and the zones/gear is more interesting. There just isn’t enough to do at the moment.
