The real big issue is that you can no longer enter melee range to tank for your pet. With that no longer working pets are going to die a lot more until people get better at aggro manageament.

Yeah that is essentially what their complaint is. They are unable to get agro from their pets and the necro pets are pretty weak at low levels. They die pretty fast.

Yea it's even worse with chanter pets. At lower levels the chanter pet should just be an extra dot on the target cause their hp and mitigation is so bad. Now they basically die in 2 hits.
