That doesn't make much sense, unless they really go for smaller/shorter parts to get them out faster with less downtime in between. Don't expect much else of the game to get "expanded" nearly as much as Midgar was.
It was kind of a joke making fun of square’s development history. It would make sense financially if they continue to sell well to stretch it out as much as they can. I’d expect the full game series to be 3 or 4 parts honestly, but it’s hard to tell with Square.

Ahh, yeah there are some who equate Midgar being the first 4-6 hours of the original game meaning that every 4-6 hour section will get its own part. Logic be damned. I pretty much agree I'd expect 3 or 4 parts total. Maybe it never gets finished, though, as some predict. I wouldn't bet on that, though.

This is my prediction based on the bosses in the original game. It divides up quite nicely.

Part 1:
Guard Scorpion
Air Buster
Aps
Reno
Sample: HO512
Hundred Gunner & Heli Gunner
Rufus
Motor Ball
JENOVA

Part 2:
Bottomswell
Dyne
Reno and Rude
Gi Nattak
Materia Keeper
Palmer
Red Dragon
Demons Gate
JENOVA

Part 3:
Schizo
JENOVA
Ultimate Weapon
Carry Armor
Rude
Diamond Weapon
Reno, Rude, and Elena
Proud Clod
Hojo
Sephrioth

Obviously they'll stick in extra stuff like with Part 1.

I didn’t really

Well Midgar was what like the first 4 hours of the game? That’s all they covered in the first part so I wouldn’t be surprised if they go for like 6 parts. Or 7 just because it’s the number 7. At least one part will enter dev hell for some reason so we’re probably looking at 2045 for completion.

I wouldn't be surprised if it did end up being 7 parts, for the synergy, with later parts on a shorter release schedule so the whole thing is done in 2033 or so. I mean, I doubt this will happen but at the same time I wouldn't be surprised.

3 parts is possible, 4 or 5 is likely.

I hope we finally get to fight Sapphire Weapon, the lost Weapon that gets defeated in a cutscene. Always figured it'd be back, was surprised when I beat FF7 and there was no sign of it.

Could also add Jade Weapon, which I believe was scrapped early in development and added to Before Crisis later. Maybe also a completely new Omega Weapon that towers above all the other Weapons, as is tradition, which would bring the number of Weapons to a cool 7.

It'd be cool if they gave us a "roadmap" of sorts that told us what their plans are. I expect Pt 2 will be another cross-gen PS4/5 release and Pt 3 will be a PS5-only release, thus not having to skimp on graphics. I know they said no more DLCs, but I fully believe the Gold Saucer will be its own full-on DLC between Pt 2 and Pt 3, so people can revisit that part of the game by itself whenever they want.

Also, I think we'll be getting a lot of Vincent stuff after Pt 2. They definitely want to revisit Dirge of Cerberus in some way. That game set up a sequel that we never got, and the 2020's would be the time to do it with the renewed surge of interest in the FF7 universe.

You are kidding yourself if you think we'll see a conclusion before 2028 at soonest.

As much as I love FF7, when I discovered progress did not carry over into the DLC, I canned the game.

Who the fuck wants to grind chars, wait years, only to see all the grinding have gone to waste - while playing the same game.

Really shitty approach.

Why would progress carry over? Yuffie isn't in the base game.

Yeah I disagree, the DLC is a totally different story with new characters.

Who knows if Part 2 will carry anything over file-wise. Has that been done successfully before in a series? I half expect Part 2 to have a bunch of completely new systems, probably get rid of the weapon-skills for example. I'm gonna guess that the level range will be 50 for each entry, probably 20-70 in Pt 2 and 50-99 in whatever the last part is, with the levels meaning something entirely different in each one.

All we know is that Square will probably find the dumbest solution to this question.

Why would progress carry into the DLC? It’s different characters you haven’t even played happening parallel to the base game. I could understand this if it were the same characters.

I'm interested in seeing sales for this second game relative to the first. First game was off the rails shit by the end, and Nomura has an open canvas with the second one.

I feel like sales are going to be significantly lower, but I'm probably wrong.

The off the rails shit killed about 80% of my hype for Part 2. The 20% that's left is still a lot of hype, but I wonder how incredibly hyped I'd be if they hadn't flown off the rails and nuked them from orbit.

Between the ludicrous endgame of Part 1, and the negation of Crisis Core, Square killed their credibility with me almost as fast as the Democrats did in Summer 2020.

Cmon guys. Complaining about Japanese crafted plot elements in a video game is like complaining there wasnt enough story in a Transformers movie.

Jap dailogue and stories are usually always off the fucking rails. Its a given, you just kind of take the good with the bad abd enjoy the rest of the content.

Its like when i first realized in Metal Gear solid the antagonist was really just another version of you, with BIG BOSS retarded shit etc. You just kind of expect it.

i finished this shit game just in time for the concert on friday, the game is unbearably long for no reason, i stand by that this game only survives on memberberries, the mechanics are garbage, half the time youre either cloud alone or your in a team with the 2 worst characters aerith and barret, when it's the girls at least you get tifa, i enjoyed playing with her more than cloud.

then you play intergrade/intermission and all the quality of life stuff has been worked into yuffie. running up to boxes are too annoying?, throw the fucking boomerang, holy shit, what a concept!

take a detour and play the fucking side card game? sure, this should have been included in the regular game, not a 20$ dlc fix.

the orchestra was great, tifas theme really needs to be live and battle medley with a chorus is wonderful, but since it was vii remake focus'd they had to throw in some garabage like turk theme and shinra theme and the new composers suck too (whoever made jesses theme)
It must suck to like playing video games but being absolutely fucking terrible at actually playing them.

They need to wait for more people to get PS5's I'm guessing, also wasn't Nomura replaced for Part 2?

He was promoted, he wasn't replaced. He's apparently overseeing the "Final Fantasy 7 Universe", or whatever the hell they're calling it.

Sony Has Now Sold 13.4 Million PlayStation 5 Consoles - IGN - stale article. Consoles aren't going to be an excuse for any drop in sales.

Oh I know people SHOULD have PS5's, but lord knows still hear the complaint.

His "promotion" sounded more like a figurehead position while he works on other stuff as well while being able to still be involved in name only.
