Eureka relics / armor have no classes requirements. I did a SAM relic while playing mostly RDM and bought the tank armor back in the days.
Is there a good guide for Eureka, listening to youtube guides just makes it even harder to understand...

Also, some recommend getting that armor for 2 items from marketboard, well on Odin they go for 500k a pop so thats a no.

Put all your elemental points on one spoke of the wheel. click it to rotate it based on the element. if you're a tank, turn to the 'toughest' against hte element. if you're a DPS turn to the most damaging. do that forever. if you supermax eureka you can have maxed out one spoke, and then compliment another with a point or two, but no one does that these days unless you mean to do baldasian arsenel like a mad lad.

you MUST progress through the weapon for each step. the armor unlocks toward the end, and the glow glow armor in the last overland zone. you don't have a choice but to do each quest in sequence, max your weapon, and do the completion arc in each zone. the armor is the optional part. so buy the glamour sets you want with your spare elemental juice. i uhh ihave a guide here some hwere, let me see.

at the bottom of this guide is links to each other zone and step:

this site is used to track spawns with people in zone. they'll shoot linsk to it if you get serious:

this video spells out some crazy shit that's unique to eureka:

Godspeed in eureka, a lot of FF players don't have stomach for punishing game play and/or grind. I thought it was fun and not too bad, but i haven't been to the arsenel yet. i unlocked it and 'have a crew' but RL beat me up.

if you have any pointed questions i'll be glad to answer. the zones are cryptic and weird as fuck.
This post has Eureka guide and resources on it. I advocate for Eureka but it is its own animal

Hot take: Your pugalist/monk still does damage even without positionals. For the purpose of leveling or casual content, not landing those every single time isnt the end of the world
Tanks do damage too. May as well level as a tank class for the faster queues and increased survivability.

But if I were to throw in my opinion on jobs not to start the game with, it would be bard and BLM - Bard because holy fuck it's boring outside of the 3rd party music player, the dps sucks ass outside of some aoe and BLM as a first job because it's just clunky and no where near as smooth/fun as the other jobs.

Welp apparently i chose awful picks for my first two classes. I tried BLM and was like "wtf is this clunky shit?". Felt so strange and awkward.

For melee dps what should I do? Unlock Rogue? Or just suck it up and go Marauder like everyone is saying for fast queues and survivability?

Just finished Heavensward last night and wanted to get to heaven on high so started up palace of the dead for the first time. Was the most brutal and frustrating party made up of idiots. Tank ran around like an idiot and had two DPS members go AFK randomly for 5-10 minutes with zero communication. Incredibly frustrating.

BLM comes into its own very late and suffers from a rotation that changes a bunch during leveling which makes running synced content a pain in the ass. Hear it's very smooth at 80 though, just need to adapt to the turret playstyle.

Don't sweat wrong first class. At level 10 you can swap around. Your non highest level class gets a huge xp boost. A hunt log and a few quests later you will be 10. And can pick up where you were. Rogue is pretty fun if you want early available melee dps. Dragoon is popular but the stereotype is thst they can die a lot jumping around like baboons

I can't stand bad parties in PotD. But it definitely happens.

That’s not a hot take.

it’s just annoying to be missing out on a core class component because it’s sometimes out of your control.

and enemies do sometimes turn around to cast shit on your party members and by doing so do a 180 degree turn which sometimes messes up your planned rotation. It’s not gonna kill your DPS but it’s just annoying. I can buy some people not caring but that’s why I said imo.

I think Monks being specialists of positionals is a good idea but I also think that it being tied to static positionals feels really bad. Something has to be done to the job to make more dynamic use of positionals which, hopefully, results in a more fluid experience.

It’s just a job that I don’t recommend that anyone start with like I said imo.

The greased lighting “fix” perhaps addressed one of my issues with the job but there’s more that needs to be done.

I know they've already changed monk but I hate that they did, it was actually a bit more interesting than average in the old state and I think it's great to have different / interesting classes instead of getting to the situation you have with tanks where war/drk/gnb are all the same skeleton, same defensive cds, nothing meaningful separating the 3 - just increasing amounts of extra buttons to press.

I also think it's totally fine/good if people hate some classes and don't play those classes, but instead play other classes. It's super easy to swap class in this game, so why not have actually diverse/interesting stuff instead of everything just being smash buttons on cd?

I'd say give Rogue a shot. It unlocks fairly quickly so long as you're like level 5 or 10 in limsa. Dont make a new character, obivously, just go unlock it.

Marauder/warrior is ok but you'll be tanking which is fine too. But I'm in the camp of figuring out the game as a dps. The brand new tanks can be really frustrating in dungeons for a myriad of reasons. From not realizing the healer is probably bored to death when you're pulling one group at a time, to forgetting to turn on tank stance (or turning it on and off over and over like it's a cooldown), to using all CD's at once instead of weaving them in one at a time during trash.

Killing through MSQ will be a lot faster as a non tank/healer and I think save more time than the dungeon queues you'll be waiting for anyway. And you can watch the tanks/healers do their thing and you'll get an idea for the pacing when you see the more veteran ones. But ultimately this is all your character/game to figure out and just enjoy what you enjoy. The dps queue times really aren't as bad as wow in the long run

So, work calming down. Knocked out up to 2.5 content now. Also working on the Crystal Tower series. God I can't see shit in this game. I'm tanking, but tanking seems pretty damn easy in this game. I don't think I've even come across a tank swap in the bit of 8 man and 24 man content I've tried.

Tanking is the most boring role in this game.

edit: Let me clarify. I think leveling solo as healer is the most boring. But in group gameplay tanking is the most boring.

I think tank swaps are only in hard modes.

One of the level 50 hard mode trials supposedly had a swap. Ifrit or Garuda I think…nobody taunted off me and I never felt challenged.

Swaps are way more prevalent in extremes and savage later on.

ARR simply didn't have much tank mechanics.

About BLM it's as Malkav says, it's awesome at 80 (if you get to stand still) but once you get synced down it sucks because eveything changes every 10 levels or so. I wish I could have the patience to learn fights better to be able to play BLM but it feels so unforgiving if you have to move a lot as the whole rotation crumbles to dust. It's Huge Explosions though and fun when it works.

Go to Character Config -> Control -> Character Tab and look for Battle Effect Settings. Turning party and other down to limited or none helps a lot with the zoo of spell effects.

Is there a way to stop the game from making that "blip" sound when mashing buttons that are on cooldown? Something like WoW's sound option to disable the error speech?

Edit: That doesn't involve muting all game sound categories.
