Final Fantasy XV (PS4 / XB1 / PC)

No remakes for 8/9, though 8 is currently on steam and 9 is supposed to be released in the near future. 12 is mmo-lite when it comes to gameplay (complete with programmable "bots" for characters in combat) and until they release a HD remix of it like X/X-2, the best way to play it is to emulate it with a reasonably decent PC, as it will look -much- better than it did on PS2. The combat/pacing of what little bit of 15 we have had access to (Episode Duscae which was packaged with FFZero) isn't like any of the main-line FF games and similar to 13-3 as was said. FFZero (an enhanced PSP port) is much closer in how 15 plays and is handled in general with what we have had access to.

The combat in 8/9/10 is absolutely nothing like 15 given what we've seen/played, and 12 is closer but still not even near the same. 13/13-2 are also not even in the same realm.

Would it be a safe assumption to say the combat of XV is like Witcher 3?

Maybe except the controls in the witcher are about the shittiest controls ive ever played

But the combat from the Duscae demo was definitely much closer to Kingdom Hearts/FF Zero than any other FF game, that's for certain. Though the demo was really limited and considerably seemed even more action based than KH, which had menus and stuff you would still peruse in combat.

12 is fantastic when played on PCSX2 with all the upscale settings maxed out. Getting the IZJS version and patching it to full-English using a NA disc is 100% non-negotiable. IZJS takes an average game and turns it into easily the best of the series. (Get the ROMs from emuparadise.me and the patcherhere.)

There have been rumors about a HD remake like X/X-2 going around for years, but SE has never given any concrete details. It's assumed that it would be IZJS when it happens, because X/X-2 HD are the International versions, but you could be waiting a long time either way.

What is IZJS? I only have the original North American PS2 version of Final Fantasy 12.

After last night's press conference, I am getting a strong FF: Spirits Within vibe from this game. Not in a "this game will be bad" kind of way, but in a "Square-Enix is betting the company on this game" kind of way.

Anime, movie tie-in and a press event -just- for the game? They certainly are pushing for it to be successful.

I think SE has been across the board making profits for the last couple of years, so a little different than Square's situation near Spirits Within and the Enix merger. But yeah, they are expecting this to be a multi-million dollar seller, and probably just so that the development on it breaks even at this point, since it has been in the works for a decade. Even if this does well, I have a sinking feeling that they are going to reduce their AAA games catalog even more in favor of the more profitable/lower development cost mobile and handheld games. =|

I came here because I just watched an ad for this on youtube, at first I was like SKIPMODE but I saw FF15...said "I haven't seen anything in a while, I wonder what's new" So it starts out all like action like, your our last hope bla bla bla, look at the battle system? maybe? or cutscene - who cares look at this shit! yeehawww --.....fade....*Stand by me* music starts playing- and now we see them being all bro-mance wondering around in a car...I check the play bar progress..50%...the last 50% of the ad is them bromancing..the cuts and edits where hard core bro-love emphasis to levels that made it seem like a bad setup to a CG gay porn.

FF15, drive around with ur bros, play arcade games with your bros, have your bros save you seven or forty times! Have your bros bro-push you while your crying... the bros!

Having played Episode Duscae, I would say the combat is like a combination of Witcher 3 and Darksiders 2, but that still doesn't really paint a clear picture of it.

Yep, and it seems that they tightened up the combat quite a bit for the Platinum Demo. The dogs are no longer a nightmare to hit.
