WTF is Knockout City?

EA must be getting all the failed projects off the books so they can make themselves more sellable.

the tomb raider thing was a bit of bad reporting, it was 600m local euro currency (wherever the fuck embrace is based in) which is "only" $60m USD. They also didn't buy out the IP, just licensed it for a period of time but it includes movie, game, and TV rights.

Embracer bought out from Square Enix the devs that made Tomb Raider when they bought the Lord of the Rings rights, so this was basically just a way to recoup some of that money. They paid $300m, they already are getting back $60m for just licensing one subset of the IP so not too bad for them.

Swedish Kronor, so right around 57m.

These gaming "journalists" are a fucking embarrassment to an already contemptible profession.

If this article is correct, Crystal Dynamics is still developing. So may Lara won't be 400lb, trans and handicapped in the next game.

I imagine most online games have a Eula that says something about it could shut down at anytime.

..and that all purchases are final, and that they can shut down your account at the drop of a hat. GAAS, persistent games, MMO's, etc. - You're fucked in the grand scheme.

We can only hope a ton of them shut down. It would ruin the market, and hopefully make it crash.

I’m banking on my absurd $10-15k+ board game collection ensuring I’m king of the nerds in our dystopian future where everything breaks down.
