Could potentially happen on any device that can run Javascript and hits one of these ads from coin-hive. uBlock Origin I believe should stomp all of these out by default now. Otherwise you can add a third party list of coin miners such as this (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/hoshsadiq/adblock-nocoin-list/master/nocoin.txt).

Unfortunately on your phone you can't install Extensions in Chrome so you'll have to use an alternative browser like Firefox and load up uBlock or a specific coin miner blocker extension that way. Could also block specific coin mining website urls via editing hosts file if you have Root, or use something like DNS66 on Android to use a local virtual VPN to filter your hosts file without Root (and then add coin miner URLs to it).

Huge pain in the ass though because any site could potentially eat up 100% CPU if they served up an ad that points to these coin miners.
Oh, good. I have unlock on my desktop and don't keep tabs or websites open on my phone other than these forums. Guess I'm safe!

Thank you for the information.

For anyone that is not keeping up with Politics thread, Google shopping now shows no returns for buying guns or gun parts.

Moving all my stuff over to one note this weekend. I still need to find a replacement for gmail.

Google is no longer gathering or indexing information. They're full on steering you into or away from that information as they see fit.

I've been really thinking about this... because not only are they doing this crazy nanny state bullshit, but their actual quality has taken a major shit over the last few months as well. We are a school system that jumped on the chromebook train early on and are up to nearly 1000 chromebooks (enough for each classroom to have enough for every student) and went google for our email and the suite. The email has gone completely glitchy. It's not anything major, but like I'll have users call me and complain that contacts dropped out of groups, or went missing all together is the main one. They released an update for the chromebooks that completely BROKE any chromebook less than a year old, so nearly half of my fleet have been having to be constantly factory reset to just be usable, and a fix took forever to roll out. Drive went completely down for no reason at all three times in one week. Their safe searches are kind of a joke and let things that should never be let through to kids, but I was able to get a web filter to counter that.

Yeah we are jumping ship to MS next year, and I'm steering towards a hybrid system. They will be on winbooks (a windows OS on a chromebook chassis). Emails will be MS, and they will have office 365 for the office stuff, but some of the google edu stuff is really good right now, so with AD sync, they'll have a SSO across both platforms. So my suggestion is MS or Apple as alternatives. Too bad MS can't make a decent phone, and Apple's bluetooth works fine, but not in the way I need it to with my hearing aids like an android does. Google really needs to be broken up. They have way too much power and influence to be healthy (or safe).

I agree with their quality, I started noticing it about 2 years ago but just chocked it up to flukes, but crazy mistakes just keep happening across all their platforms. I specifically keep having issues with my androidTV, Drive, Android phone, Chromecast, etc.

After seeing how bad Bioware cratered due to SJW/Liberal infestation I don't find it so hard to believe that Google would start going downhill. I almost wonder how much time their employees spend at work discussing wrong think, changing algorithms to fix it and policing their own (the engineers actually doing the work).

I give them 5-10 years before they tank themselves. They won't fail completely, but you will see a mass exodus.

If your search engine cant match the correct thumbs to its porn videos you fail as a search engine company. Hell Bing gives you mouse over pre-view clips.

I keep thinking of all their big projects they have announced got balls deep into and then cancelled. Someone need to compile a list, it's LONG and the internal one is probably 10X bigger.

No idea how youtube comes up with the suggestions. I'll search for a video on some welding and CNC equipment and then I'll get nonstop recomendations for craft stuff, crap like making christmas wreaths.
Everytime you click a video on this website, an embeed video, youtube knows it was you.

Their engine is smart enough that it tracks you even if you are not directly on their site, and just watching an embed. Some times of the videos linked on the political thread will make me look like a full blown Nazi or sjw. So I avoid clicking on them because i don't want to polude my youtube search history,

Max Nix, they already labeled me a Nazi. Their auto-fill was intentionally trying to exacerbate it. I got so many WTF search suggestions, I am sure they are trying to build some kind of No Fly list or hot sheet to forward to .gov.

If you surf /pol and pull pics to drop into imgur you'll see Google all up in your bizz.

Ended up switching from Vivaldi to Edge. Just seems way faster. Vivaldi would seem to slow down after awhile and seemed to have issues playing video.

Interesting, I haven't had any issues so far.

I haven't had any issues either, and my open tab count keeps rising as it always does. I also have Firefox running simultaneously because I still haven't migrated every site I use over to Vivaldi yet. Still completely impressed with Vivaldi. It just lacks sync as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know about alternatives, but I use youtube fairly often and I have no idea how they come up with the recommendations. One game I play a lot of the games are from players in the UK. I watch a few of the videos and now every recommended video is from the UK. I keep hitting the non interested doesn't help. You would think of google is looking at everything they would be better at it.

Can't make quality systems when you're too busy virtue signaling, banning conservative accounts, changing history and adding customer diversity algorithims!

The problem that I see with this is CDN being screwed up from it routing everywhere.

Why wouldn't the local server dns cache not have the local cdn listed?

Do you really think they did not plan for CDNs?

I guess I'm not understanding what your concern is, or something.

I completely misread a portion saying that they have distributed servers as if they were going to route the traffic all over the place to anonymize. I butchered that reading comprehension bad. I will hang my head in shame and leave my post unedited.
