Wife and I watch Food Wishes like fiends. Really entertaining and we've tried so many of his recipes and techniques. Lots of fun stuff to make.

Isn't white bread a southern BBQ staple? It started out as a cost-cutting measure but just kinda grew into the tradition of the cuisine?

Yeah, southern food and bbq always comes with a slice or two of white bread and some sliced pickles. The best is the thick "texas toast" slice white bread with the bbq on top so it soaks up the bbq goodness while you eat, then eat the bread.

I'm gonna' make this soon. What's some good stuff to put kimchi on, other than Korean food?

No joke: nachos.

Tortilla chips, Good cheddar, chopped kimchi (dry it off with a paper towel too), throw it in the oven. 10/10

i dumped kimchee sauce and cochujang into that instapot carnitas recipe instead of the mexican flavors, it was significantly better

other than that i make kimchee fried rice, yea just like it sounds, pour it over the rice on a hot wok and let it infuse, than it's just having kimchee as banchan, it's really the best way.

Decided I wanted to make my own sandwich meats. Opting for roast beef as I can now make roast beef and cheddar melts with liberal helping of horseradish.

First attempt in some years and this one was a little off of ideal. High temp short time cooking is always best for this though imo.

Kimchi is one of my favorite things on a nice fat grilled beef hotdog, with some chili sauce. I dice and mix it in for a twist when making chicken salad from leftover rotisserie chicken, and drop a big heap into soup etc. I most often eat it on my scrambled eggs.

Made this today. Modifications... upped the ground beef from 1lb to 2. Seasoned it with onion powder, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Made 24oz of bacon, and added an extra can of pinto beans. Overall just made it more hearty, imo. Oh, also halved the brown sugar as I'm not a huge fan of the sweet, but a little touch of it is good.

anyone got a good tztziki recipe? tried this

  • 2 cups grated cucumber (from about 1 medium 10-ounce cucumber, no need to peel or seed the cucumber first, grate on the large holes of your box grater)
  • 1 ½ cups plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint and/or dill
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 medium clove garlic, pressed or minced
  • ½ teaspoon fine sea salt

Made chicken parm. Nothing fancy. Threw the sauce and mozz on at the end and broiled for 5 minutes. Egg bath, then into breadcrumbs, parm cheese, italian seasoning, salt. Baked 50 minutes, then just poured sauce on each breast, and then a ton of mozz cheese and broiled for 5 minutes.
