I very much dislike any TV panel with Y-legs on the bottom, much prefer the T-legs even if they have the same depth profile. Y-legged TVs I would opt to get a center mount for.

If I want to upgrade to a 4k tv on the lower end, am I good with this or is there something else I should be looking at?

TV isn't a huge priority for me, I'm mostly doing it because the costs are cheap enough, and I guess it would be nice to have 4k.

No idea what you linked - but LG's have great TVs at almost every price point from ultra high end OLED to high to mid and even cheap... their cheap stuff is usually last years mid/high TVs in a cheap box.

Those are the latest Black Friday deals, for 55" you have a lot of solid mid tier options while 65" is more limited but a couple decent ones just under $1000.

Although they list amazon for most of the deals you can probably find the same price right on the brand's web site.

I have been tasked with buying a TV for a raffle at work. Someone give me a recommendation for a $1000 max TV that isn't shit.

I'll sell you my 60" Pioneer Kuro 141 plasma for $1000. Between us we can make it $500, tack on the other $500 to your work, and split that $500 even. $250 for you, let me know if you get a better deal!

one thing about tv's and raffles (cuz i had to deal w/ this for raffling off the old flat screens in the lobby etc), if you buy anything over 50", it's not gonna fit in a regular sedan, maybe a hatchbach could eek out a 55", but the truck and suv ppl can carry all kinds of shit.

ALSO, they have to transport it vertically, if it lays flat, you have a HUGE chance of it "collapsing" i.e. if you just lay it flat on a truck, if you hit a pot hole, it'll jump up and when it lands back down, the screen could separate, etc...

imo for $1k just get the hugests 1080p you can, most normies won't know wtf a 4k tv is

I've mentioned before that I use my TV as a monitor, but I've also mentioned a few times how it's been a PITA to find a comfortable way to use it with a desk due to size:distance issues. I've also struggled finding a way to have the TV function as both a monitor and a TV for living room viewing.

I think I've solved the issue by buying this:

It's portable enough that I can set it up and move it easily, yet it's wide enough to provide enough room for a keyboard & mouse.

It functions as a halfway decent sidestand as well for when I'm not actively using it. I think this might be the missing link I've been looking for when it comes to living-room PC usage via TV

Do we know for sure that the HDMI 2.1 on the 2019 LG's is the full deal and not some hacked together version in order to be the first to get it to market?

A week or two ago I started noticing a sudden brief buzz coming from around my TV, and a few days ago I've started to hear a rapid electrical sounding beeping coming from the read of the TV, around the inputs area. Here's a link to a recording of it Vocaroo | Online voice recorder

That sound is happening when the TV is doing nothing, it's just in its sleep state, and when I have nothing connected to it.

Has anyone encountered something like this? I'm guessing a capacitor is going, but I'm clueless about this stuff

Best Buy has a Samsung 65” 4K NU6900 for $480. Seems stupid cheap but guess they’re tossing last years models? Any experience with this one or something better in the $500 range? Was just going to look at the TCLs but figured Sammy was a bigger name.

Not any personal experience with it, but a quick Google is showing that it's an entry level 4k TV. It doesn't get very bright, so HDR isn't going to be impressive, but it does have low input lag, and good blacks, so it's not terrible.

I'm so tired of my 70" Vizio being a piece of shit, that I'm tempted to switch to this one myself.

To give you an idea of how badly they are trying to get rid of HDMI 2.0 stock before 2020 models... both the 49" and 55" Samsung RU8000 are the same price right now $650. (Black Friday was $550) so it still hasn't returned to the $700-800 it was before.

Kinda disappointing in the HDR performance, but maybe that’s just what you get at $480. Also the bezel looks a bit large compared to my near bezeless Sammy.

Now is definitely a bad time to buy. You risk locking yourself into an HDMI version that won't have a lot of great features useful for gaming for however many years it'll be until you upgrade again.
