Make sure the Radiologist you ask doesn’t own or read imagines off the open MRI scanner you’ve been using, lol
Nah actually after seeing your post I did some looking on the internet and saw immediately you were correct. I'm just not sure it matters for me. They are doing comparison scans to make sure nothing came back. I've had 2 years of clean scans , open and closed MRI and perhaps the 'not as precise' part will not matter. Being in the closed MRI causes me intense physical pain that takes days to go away. Like my hands/arms go numb.

I've been a number of MRIs and only one place that I know of has an open MRI and it wasn't a place I went to. I figure there is a huge upsell to them for people that won't fit into a normal one or claustrophobic.

It's also the only place I've seen that advertises they do MRIs and have an open MRI. I figure if you go to a regular one and a doctor says you won't fit the open MRI place can charge you or your insurance more.

I doubt they get to charge more, actually if they’re independently owned they probably charge a small fraction of what you’d get charged at a hospital based scanner. Hospital based outpatient care is probably the biggest healthcare scam of the 21st century*.

The main draw is claustrophobia/patient preference. Most doctors (especially pretend docs like NPs) don’t realize those things are pretty useless so $$ marketshare.

Well.. wide bore 3T MRI machine (not OpenMRI) and no problems at all getting it done. Of course , it could have been due to my new best friend Alprazolam.
