I actually am watching Highlander 2 Directors Cut...
Its been so long, I may have to put it up there with The Source.

There are essentially 2 main continuities.
HL1 then HL3 - done
HL1 -> Series -> EndGame -> Source
HL2 any edition is just kind of out there
Highlander the search for vengeance anime OVA is awesome, but a continuation of the HL1-Series-EndGame without The Source happening
You /could/ put the anime after HL2 if you wanted, dismissing 3 as 3 /ends/ it moreso than even 1 - but you cannot put it with The Source as that ends it all (in the fakest and gayest way)
The Source- should be watched for the first 10-15min, the dock scene then turned off.

I had no idea an anime of it existed but since you brought it up... Yeah,why wouldn't it exist?! It's prime for that style of animation. I don't watch anime.

There was only ever one Highlander movie. It was a perfect film and needs no sequels. The TV series was pretty great too.

Edit*. Just looked it up. It was announced in 2008. Talks of production" ramped up in 2013".
Filming is to start early 2026. So 18 years... Better part of 2 decades lol

The energy release is subject to how the immortal was killed. Iirc, there was an immortal blown up and the energy became part of the explosion.
