I finally watched this.

Much better than Rings of power.

It was a bit winded with too many scenes revolving around birth. The best parts were of course pretty much any scenes involving dragons. I do not feel nearly as devoted to the characters as I did with Game of Thrones. The actors lack the charisma and the writing that came with the first 6 seasons. The ending did kind of suck but I appreciated the moment. It did leave off with enough for me to want to watch season 2. I think 3 stars is appropriate. I give it a 6.5/10. It would be a lot less if dragons were not involved.

I watched them both simultaneously as they were released. I cannot disagree more.
Let's face it-- these two shows probably represent MONSTERS of television with regard to production costs, etc.

They both disappointed. But HoTD is just horrible trash. RoP sucked too, but it was more pathetic than offensive.
Just MHO.

But they both were unbelievable letdowns.

Just objectively wrong if you put HoTD anywhere near the steaming trash that is ROP. Not to say you can't not like the show but their failures are nowhere near each other. HoTD, books aside cause I didn't read them, is a cohesive thought out plot with varying themes throughout the episodes (as dumb as some of them are), great acting and good character development. Absolute none of that was in ROP.

I expected HotD to be terrible, and it was fine. Suffers from its lack of characters anywhere near as compelling as the original show (with the exception of Daemon).

I expected RoP to be terrible, and it was absolute dogshit. While the first few episodes of HotD didn't grab me, it picked up its pace. RoP just got worse and worse. I had to stop multiple episodesa nd continue on subsequent days, and everything was just boring and insulting to the IP. It was far more offensive - it was actively shitting all over the lore.

Dude -- they both took massive shits all over the original IP... They both sucked. I hate even having this argument because it is like arguing about how one would rather die by evisceration or being drawn and quartered. Let's have a big discussion on that as it we were Socrates!

However (ugh here I go, Plato); at least, like Avatar 2, there were moments that the world in which the show existed provided some element of escapism. Not true with kiddie porn HoTD.

HOTD would have carried better with charisma. Poor casting outside of a handful of actors.

Never watched ROP so I can't compare the two.

My problem with HOTD has always been with the shit writing/showrunners.

GoTs ending shit all over the GOT world and the fan base and irreparably damaged the brand.

Arguments can be made to why and whos fault it is, grrm for failing to deliver the books in over a decade or D&D for rushing the ending so they could take over the next star wars trilogy, doesn't really matter. Fat man hasnt written a single fucking thing since and D&D's ending to GOT shit the bed so hard they lost their star wars gig.

HOTD was supposed to be a chance to make amends for GOTs previous failures. It was a far simpler story to adapt to television, much more limited in scope and in characters, a lot more room for interpretation and artistic license. Its almost like you couldn't fuck up the adaptation, just stick to this basic outline.

And immediately out the gate they fucked it away. The changes they made to the characters are just as egregious and damning as the changes they made to GOT characters in the final seasons. Only far few prople have read the book or are aware of the source material to realize how shitty the changes have been.

Rather than learning the lesson from GOTs ending, they doubled down on the stupid.

But whats worse is why they made the changes. Not to improve the story or add tension/drama, but to make the non-binary tranny the lead character and protagonist, Make her the victim and showcase the struggles of womynx even in fantasy worlds.

Its trash, the writing is trash and nobody gives a shit. None of these characters are memorable and none of these stories matter. They could have made a good show but they decided to focus on woke rather than focus on storytelling. Ygwyd.

biggest problem with HOTD was casting. I just didn't care about the chars at all. And I just always felt they were "off" (besides Daemon).
Honestly if they would have kept the young actors I probably would have liked it a lot more.

i hope some day the $30m pilot they shot for the show that got cancelled gets released, how bad could it have been that they saw it and just said NOOOO BURY IT.

That does tell you though why HOTD is the way it is, its the "safe" navigation to appease mass audiences who liked Game of Thrones but walked away from the IP after the shitty final season. So that was the only goal, getting back mass audiences with a product that isn't confusing, too violent, too weird, too political, etc. By that measure they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams, HoTD had bigger audience numbers than Game of Thrones season 8 -- HOTD did something like 29m viewers for the final episodes, whereas GoT was hitting under 20m.

Rings of Power did have funnier memes

So stupid a show like this wins a Golden Globe over Better Call Saul. I mean, I know award shows are pointless anyway, but there's just such a huge gulf in quality there.

But in HotD they slightly changed some of the character motivations from the very detailed source material! How dare they!!

So would that be to speed up the release of Season 2 and stretch it out to 4 seasons?

twitter clip of filming, big spoiler if not read the book

this is most likely where season 2 will end, so it will only cover the 1st calendar year, ac 129, of the dance. with the news about about the big battle being moved to season 3.

First Princess whatsherface and Blondie McEyepatch. Those are about the only characters I like so far. I don't really dislike the others. It's mostly just a boring show. But I just saw the part where Creepy McEyecontact jerked off to the queens feet while sitting 4 feet away from her and I feel like that had to be the shark jump.

I remember when shows had 21-23 full episodes per year.
I honestly don't like this 6-10 thing on every show. Some do 13 and that is better but I still like the 21-23 the most.
