I know it's a bit late now, but about the subject of the Toto C2...

As far as a bidet seat goes, I recommend the Vovo 3100 over the Toto C2 ( I guess Koreans like their bidets too).

The Vovo has a heater rated for 1100W, as opposed to the Toto's 500W heater. Haven't had hot water run out yet, over multiple back to back full cycles.

Also, it feels like a pressure washer to the point where I've never tried the "Turbo Wash" setting - the highest pressure setting on regular cycle seems to be more than powerful enough.

My 4 year old Maytag top loader needs new springs. This thing is absolute shit. Is there any brand/model washer out there that isn’t absolute garbage these days? Willing to pay a premium if so.

Our Speed Queens are still going strong a year+ later. We run them all the time between 6 year old and toddler, and us.

When I was buying 4 years ago the word on the street was that newer speed queens sucked - can’t remember if it was due to epa regs nerfing them or frequent bad boards. I’m willing to give them a try now though. Which model do you have?

If I remember back when doing my research, there was a year they tried to do something like change up the controls or changed the agitator. Can't remember, but yeah it sounds familiar.

We just have the plane TC5003 with no lid lock and the fill settings mean you can fill the whole thing with water even if you only put in 1 shirt.

Yup I’m pretty sure that was it. Thanks, I’ll try replacing my washer with a TR7 I think

Plastic connector inside the handle on a Frigidaire microwave broke. No worries. Look up replacement handle. Cost is $160. Cost for the entire microwave is $275.

Everything is designed to stop working in 5 years and go to the landfill. If you replace it, at least take it out in the yard and give it the office space printer treatment to make yourself feel better.

Looking for a compact dishwasher. Leaning towards Miele. Thoughts?

Mieles are good. The only problem with them is that they are still all made in Germany, so if there is another bottlenecking COVID-like event, it may be difficult to source repair parts for them.

Thanks for the info. Any recs for alternatives to consider?

Just to be clear - you are looking for an 18" compact that still goes under a counter, correct? Just want to make sure you're not looking for something like a countertop one or a portable with wheels.

The Bosch 800s are very good - perhaps slightly less reliable than Miele, and there have been some reports that the touch controls on the latest generation stuff are kind of finicky, but overall, they are still good units. Bosch traditionally made their stuff in Germany like Miele, but they have a DW factory online in North Carolina now, so parts sourcing should be a bit better.

Bosch has proprietary drying tech called Crystal Dry which is generally considered to be class-leading, although nothing is going to get Tupperware 100% dry. It also has a 3rd rack and is rated at 44 dB, which is quiet enough to be put in an open concept kitchen/living room floor plan where you might worry about it being distracting when you are watching TV or the like.

I like KitchenAid generally for dishwashers, but AFAIK, they stick with full-size models.

Correct - 18” under the counter compact.

Cool. Then yeah, by process of elimination, I would probably get either the Bosch or the Miele. Advantages of the Bosch will be parts sourcing and drying, advantage of the Miele will likely be overall reliability. Both are rated at 44 dB, so noise should be similar. My GE is rated at 44 - there is barely perceptible noise if the room is silent, but it will be easily drowned out by most everything else.

GE does make a compact, but it's rated at 47 dB, which is a little louder (not awful, but anything over 44 is generally considered noticeable), and they are owned by Haier, which is Chinese. They do a good job at making a lot of dishwasher models here, but their compacts are not made here, to my knowledge.

Whirlpool's is even louder - 50 dB.

LG doesn't make compacts.

Do not ever get a Samsung dishwasher.

We just installed a Bosch 800 that I bought from Best Buy at $400 off since it was a floor model. Installed myself as well. The only thing to consider with the install is that the 800 uses a specific plug or you purchase a $20 junction box (or make your own). Our previous builder grade whatever was hard wired so I just went to Home Depot and bought the junction box. It being a floor model it did not come with any cord at all. I also had to Amazon some cabinet Clips for like $10

The Crystal dry has worked great. We still do a lot of bottles / sippy cups for the toddler and it dries them completely. Previously we needed a bottle dry rack after they went through.

Ona note if you’re having to use the junction box, it is about 1.5” thick. So if your cavity is just deep enough for the washer to sit flush, you may need to locate the box in the sink cabinet or adjacent cabinet and run the cord through. It wasn’t a problem for us but I could see it getting tight depending on how your cabinets are built.

Otherwise it has been great for the last month we’ve been using it.

I have a Bosch dishwasher. One thing to watch out for is that in some models the door springs have plastic attachment inserts that tend to shatter. I replaced mine with a $15 knockoff part with a stamped steel insert that seems fine. Easy job, but requires disconnecting and pulling out the appliance. Might be worth doing prophylactically if you're getting a new one.

Oh the other thing that I caught was in the leveling for the front feet. The manual does not state there is a reusing screw that needs to be removed before adjusting the feet. It is behind the toe kick AB’s pretty obvious once tied see it and the feet won’t rotate without way greater force than should be necessary. 😀
