lol I’ve gone from being 100% in on Berseria to now strongly considering Zestiria just to see why it is polarizing.

I liked Zestiria well enough, i would definitely play it before Berseria just because of how much of a step backward it would feel.

If you're playing trials of mana I found out something interesting with seeds. Your entire stack of 99 is rolled *when it dropped* and already has a determined common/uncommon/rare loot pool.

Either when you get your 3rd class unlocked or hit level 60 or a certain part of the story your silver/gold item seeds can drop the class specific weapons+armor. But if you saved up 90 of them and 1-85 dropped before you were eligible those are not retroactively updated. Only 86-90 would actually award the high end gear since it was determined when it dropped.

So with the way new game plus is set up, it sounds like I should definitely start with my seed farm character (Angela)'s file and not bother with the Kevin file I started at all, right? If new game plus goes right from one scenario to the next with bonuses.

According to PSTrophies it looks like you'll have to beat the game six times to 100% it. If you have 3x exp for the last few I doubt it'll take that long in total though.

Just wrapped up True sending on DQ XI. Took about 110 hours overall. That includes probably 5 hours of afk time and maybe 5-6 hours of goofing off in the casino. Could easily cut it down to Platinum to sub 90 hours of you used a guide. Tried to do most of it blind except the crafting part. And I do still have an issue where I’ve got the in game accolades for talking to Cows and all the costumes, but cannot pop the trophy on the PS4. Sucks. Also that it is on PS4 and knowing that I’d have more content on Switch since I’m already damn 110 hours invested.

I just finished Switch DQ11, took 65 hours after doing all of the new postgame (but not much of the old postgame). PS4 run took around 90 hours and in that one I got the full 100%. That's a lot of DQ11 and I'm glad it's finally done. The last few uberbosses in the Switch version are unreal difficulty. The retro content from other DQ games is a cool addition to Switch, but it only takes about 2 hours to run through all of it, and you could probably just watch it on YouTube.

So is the consensus DQ11 is amazing? My current to-do lineup is Zelda, octopath traveler, tales of vesperia. Thinking of adding DQ11, ff12, Chronicles of Mana.

Should DQ11 jump to front of the line?

This is late, but DQ11 is a very time-consuming game. If you're a big fan of Chrono Trigger, DQXI is almost like the modern CT for this generation in some ways. It can take 5 or 6 times as long to beat, though, and you have to be ready to clear your schedule to deal with it. It's basically the size of two full games (a World of Balance / World of Ruin type design) where the second half overlaps the first on a lot of content and can get redundant. After that you've got a robust postgame (often called "Part 3") and on the Switch version there's another postgame on top of that where you revisit old areas from old DQ games and fight some ridiculously-hard uberbosses (like fighting the final bosses of some of the previous games all at once, type stuff). DQ11 is the sort of game that if you've got nothing else to play and really like games like DQ and CT, you'll have a blast with it. Problem is you can play a few other things with the same block of time and might be better off doing that. I'd go with FF12, Octopath, and Zelda myself. YMMV though

When you complete a playthrough you get the trophies for all 3 of your characters. So you can do that part in 2 but it would be a complete slog to do the initial team to 99. The bigger issue is there appears to be certain NPC chain abilities that can only be gotten by a single main character (most only require them in your party). For example, Chirry the girl who saves Angela will only give her chain ability if Angela is you main character. This is due to the flaw that when you enter towns that have no combat you are a party of 1. I believe Angela, Charlotte, Hawkeye, and possibly Kevin have unique missable chain abilities because of this.

We've also discovered another side effect with the seeds in regards to NG+ and rolling gear for Class 3 and 4. Because the loot pool is determined by when it dropped if you get a gold seed when you are only class 2 then it's impossible for that specific seed to roll the class 3 gear. Same deal with rainbow and class 4 gear, the first few of each type you get is always before your class up points so they become dead zones and you have no idea where they occur in a stack of 80. For ??? seeds you should roll them 1 by 1 as you acquire them. Apparently if you save the seeds up they can duplicate but this is not true if you immediately plant them and get the class items, you should get all 6 in 6 rolls.

50/50 Li'l Cactus ability is +200% CS at start of battle. Post-game boss chain also gives another +100% CS at the start of battle. So if your party has a character with an AOE class strike you can use it immediately on every battle.

Not always the case on abilities. For example I got the cat ability on my 2nd playthrough after the fire dungeon with Hawkeye in my party but my main was Riesz. I also got Kevin's ability when we did his fight in the forest but I guess that wasn't in town. Some might just be fucky? Most of these haven't been particularily amazing though, the good ones tend to be the ones you get for the class 4 unlocks. Do you need these for the achievement though? I assumed they meant you only needed the ones you put points in, so basically hit 99.

The no dupe thing I've read wasn't true, but the first 6 I opened were indeed 1 of each. Worth noting I guess that they are basically assigned a class when you loot them, but this class is more like a "side" and a character. For example if you open 3 seeds and you get main character dark side, 2nd character light side and main character light side, then change your classes or change your entire character(NG+) and reopen them, you will still get main character dark, 2nd light and then main character light again, just to whatever your current character and classes are. Useful for NG+ preparations if you know what you're going with, since you can manipulate which char is second or third to fit your seeds if you don't want to farm a full set.

There's a shitton of broken skill stuff tbh, the CS definitely make trash packs a joke, the no item used lets you use the super strong items like the item that instantly puts all 3 debuff on a boss without consuming them(they also don't reduce the usage per fight so you can technically spam rez items once you have it), you can make mp completely irrelevant for your entire team which lets you spam strong spells over and over(obviously favors Angela the most). And then in general balance isn't so great, Angela lategame is stupidly OP compared to the other characters, she basiclaly makes all the endgame trivial even when not maxed out.

Oh and on achievements, you need 3 playthroughs, because you need the big boss of each 3 pairings.

7 hours removed from the Trials demo, about a third of the way through the game already. It's really good but it's starting to get redundant having to use melee for basically everything. The Dark Force spell is badass AOE damage if I can maintain the MP to use it, which I generally can't, and then it's back to melee.

Party is Angela, Hawkeye, Charlotte, going for rune master / nightblade / sage as final classes.

The game is nowhere near as easy as people were saying online (playing on Hard). It isn't particularly challenging either, but I've gotten a couple game overs on some of the bosses. The wall face boss shortly after the first class change crystal is a complete beast compared to everything up to that point (unless you brought Ice Coins).

The wall boss is a huge difficulty spike, and there's a few other annoying bosses, but it gets easier over time.

Angela gets OP as fuck eventually once you start not having mp issues. Try reclaim and later reclaim II, with both it's 3mp per power attack, you can spam triangle a few times to get a bunch of mp back. Near the endgame you get a broken as fuck skill if you play as Angela main that gives 10mp every 5s in combat, and then it gets hard running out. Postgame you get even better crap so you don't even need to waste a skill on Angela herself for mp. Also at some point you can just afford the mp nut items anyway so you can just chug these. She becomes full retarded postgame, where you basically run around just spamming spells.

Anyway finished the game entirely, all achievements done, took 37hours for the whole thing so it didn't feel like a chore, last playthrough on NG+ with already lvled chars took 3h30 total. Was alright but they definitely should have worked on challenging/scaling content. NG+ is just a joke and the postgame content wasn't nearly challenging enough imo. Still was nice overall, I'd say like a 7/10 or so.

Got Reclaim I, working on Reclaim II. It really makes a huge difference. Building up Angela's strength stat seems counterintuitive if you've played the original, but it's definitely the way to go (at least until you've got Reclaim II) and I like that they made all of the stats matter for this remake.

Protip, when you get to the place with the night market (Byzel or whatever it's called now), buy Potos Oils for group heals (even if you have Charlotte, especially if you don't) and Ice Coins (or whatever the "ice damage against an enemy" item is called now). The wall face boss is still the biggest difficulty spike in the game so far from what I've seen and it would have been much easier if I'd brought more than two Ice Coins to lob at it. Can also get a couple of the item that cast Ice Saber for that same fight. Other than the wall face I've generally had the right element for every fight, but you do that fight well before you have access to ice element spells. Edit - I got 25 Potos Oils there and that was good enough for the time being, go higher if you can do it without breaking the bank. Only need 9 Ice Coins since that's all you can bring into the wall face battle anyway.

Berseria was my first game from that series, got it on sale a few months ago.

I could not get into after a few hours.
Does it get a bit better deeper you go ?

I tend to screw myself in Anime games by skiping cut scenes then being annoyed i have no idea what is going on.

In ToM, what's up with the ??? Seeds? I've been farming for a good half hour in MH and haven't seen a single one. Characters just got to level 38, so maybe they don't drop until then. I'd like to keep moving with the story if ??? Seeds drop everywhere after this. I can't remember from the SFC version. Farming a loop of rabites around the class change room is getting pretty old.

I believe they can only start dropping once you finished the Sanctuary story part and have to do the boss hunt. A specific enemy in each dungeon can drop it as well as a guaranteed drop from a chest in each. Those same enemy types show up through the post-game dungeon so you can continue getting them and stock up along with rainbow seeds.

They only drop from 38+ monsters, so the dungeons that open up after the Sanctuary of Mana part. You can get a bunch in chests in these dungeons by just running through, 6 of them and supposedly they will always yield one of each job, but I've read conflicting reports.
